Review: Aryx Quinn vs. Danny Gage (BGEast)

There are obviously a lot of older matches that I could review. I've been watching gay wrestling videos for almost 20 years. My choice today is somewhat random in a broad sense. I was scrolling through my hard drive and Aryx Quinn vs. Danny Gage from BGEast just kind of popped. Why? I picked it because there's a very specific plot point that makes it special to me.

Love me some OG Aryx.

This is original Aryx Quinn. Damn, I loved him. So young and so cocky. His smooth, ripped body was highlighted by disproportionately broad shoulders, meaty pecs and a bubble butt. The arrogant punk was pure heel, but not an unstoppable beast. In fact, earlier on this same compilation (Wrestler Spotlight: Aryx Quinn), Aryx loses to the underrated Nick Archer.

Opposite Aryx is Danny Gage in his only appearance. Not sure he meets the one-hit wonder status, but it doesn't really matter. What's important to know about Danny, other than the fact that he's a complete jobber, is that he's British. He's waiting in the ring, wearing his tight red tank top with the Union Jack on it. The guy is obviously proud of his heritage and why not? It's not like it'll matter, right?

Aryx gives his abs an unnecessary pop.

Danny is British and bendy and that's all that matters.

Aryx makes a horrible welcome wagon,
but an amazing cocky jock heel.

Yeah, it turns out that it matters to Aryx. This delights me. The first story I submitted to Bard's story group was Flag vs. Flag, which is now part of the Encounters series. It featured a brutal beatdown and flag-based humiliation. So this is obviously a trigger for me. And so, seeing how this USA vs. UK battle plays out is simply perfect.

Battle might be too strong a word. This is 100% squash. Actually, it's more like 150% squash. It's that squashy. Aryx crushes the rookie, making it clear why Danny Gage was a one-time wrestler. No way he would willingly comes back after this. Aryx trash talks him, of course, mocking the jobber, knowing there's nothing he can do about it. But that's not the real humiliation he has in store for Danny.

You don't wear another flag in front of Aryx.

The man is no match for the boy.

Aryx ruthlessly trash talks the poor, pathetic jobber.

And the cocky jock heel doesn't just stop at winning. No, he strips the jobber and then slides USA trunks onto his carcass. Still not satisfied, Aryx beats on the jobber some more, uses his Union Jack t-shirt as a towel (including sliding it inside his trunks to wipe down his ass and junk) then ties it around Danny's mouth before finishing him off.

Oh Aryx, that's just too much!

Yes, that's still Danny ...
after a forced wardrobe change.

I wonder what Danny told his mates
about his trip to America when he got home?

Action-wise, what makes it move so well is Aryx's creativity as a heel. When he debuted, Aryx brought out new holds and signature holds. It added to his obvious appeal. Chase Addams is the closest I can think of nowadays. Aryx always impressed and amazed, proving he was more than the boss' boy. He was a superstar from day one.

Aryx enjoys his work.

One of Aryx's signature moves.

Now that's a cocky punk.

In the end, this video is memorable for multiple reasons - the guys, the brilliant action and the shocking stakes. Young Aryx is at his cocky best, while Danny is well-suited to be the hapless victim. The superstar's creativity was on full display as he brutally bends the jobber. And it has the flag vs. flag dynamic with Danny facing the ultimate humiliation. Awesome.

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex

  1. Wow, thanks for this review! Flag trunks are totally a trigger for me too, and I'm surprised I wasn't aware of this match. I definitely need to check this one out. Do you have any other recommendations of videos that touch on this theme? I just read your Flag vs Flag story for the first time, and it was super hot!
