Review: Buck Carter vs. Toney Rico (BGEast)

Context matters so much. In all aspects of life, this is true, but now I’m forced to acknowledge how much it matters in terms of wrestling videos. A friend sent me an image from BGEast to identify. Turns out it’s a guy named Buck Carter from the upcoming Big n Beefy 7 which will be on catalogue 131. I thought the guy was hot and wanted to check him out. It also turns out I’ve seen him before and didn’t check him out when he was Wildcard at Thunders Arena. Huh.

Buck: "Dax Carter is going sky high, baby."

Why the different reaction? BGEast and Thunders play different roles in my wrestling video world. Like veggie-hating kids who will suddenly love carrot sticks if they’re in a McDonald’s french fry sleeve, I view guys differently in different settings. At Thunders, Wildcard didn’t fit what I wanted, while at BGEast, Buck Carter miraculously does. And so, here we are.

During the video, Buck calls himself Dax/Daxx Carter, which is his porn name, but he’ll be listed as Buck on the site. For many reasons, I love the name Buck, but not everyone can be a Buck. I think a Buck needs to be basic and at least a little bit country. I’ve never seen “Dax Carter” in porn action, but once things get going, BGEast’s beefy, hairy, confident “Buck Carter” suits his new name.

Buck: "The big jolly green giant falls!"

Buck: "Remember the fucking name Dax Carter."

Buck: "Do it right or don't do it all."

For the second catalogue in a row, we have a "Big n Beefy" video. Buck’s in the ring flexing and prepping when Toney Rico shows up. The hairy hunk has no patience for his opponent. He calls him the jolly green giant then proceeds to beat his opponent down. So confident is the hairy hunk, he puts his hands behind his back and dares Toney to do something. The taller stud isn’t sure what to do which makes me wonder how much Ty and Chase guided him in their matches.

Toney looks like a good match for Buck. He’s a lot taller, lean but solid, smooth and mature. He’s quiet but confident, nonplussed (the modern definition) by the arrogant, shorter beefcake he’s facing. So far, Toney’s had quite a debut year against top tier opponents Ty Alexander, Chase Addams and Kelly King (review coming). If not for Cason, he’d probably have a shot at Favorite Rookie at this year’s Caveys.

Toney's getting mad ... not that it matters.

Is this legal?

Toney: "I’m tapping. I’m tapping."
Buck: "No more taps. This is about humiliation."

Action-wise, things are pretty simple. Buck is the dominant beast but Toney has a short stretch of control. He can’t do much with the big man, so he focuses mainly on arm torture. The beefier stud uses his strength advantage to overpower and manhandle Toney with his fists, arms and legs. In spite of his claims of no cheating, there is a low blow, choking on the ropes, and face slaps that intentionally draw blood as revenge.

I didn’t think that the camerawork was the best. It trails the action at times, like on a couple of clotheslines. And we don’t get the best angle on some moves. It’s not all the camera’s fault. BGEast films from the one side of the ring, but the rookies don’t position themselves for the best view of the action. This is more of a problem for me as a blogger doing image captures and GIFs than a viewer, but I think it is one reason why the video doesn't quite reach its potential.

Buck: "I like to beat my opponents, but more
than anything? I like to humiliate them."

Buck: "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood."

Buck: "I never cheat but I always win."

In the end, I don't know why BGEast has decided to jump back into the Big n Beefy space in such a big way the past two catalogues, but I'm glad they did. In this case, this was a good video but I do think it had potential to be even better. I liked the contrasting wrestlers and the simple tension. Buck has a great attitude and look. I preferred Toney as an equal in his previous matches than a helpless (and occasionally fearful) hunk in this one. And the action could’ve been smoother and better positioned.

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex

  1. I liked Buck alright in Thunders, but I was caught off guard by how hot he looks here, so I think you're on to something. BG's atmosphere just really suits him somehow. Toney appears to be in that precarious position where he teeters between an underdog that can hold his own and a hapless jobber. Hopefully he ends up the former. He's a refreshing presence in a sea of heels.

    1. Thanks for the comment. The old real estate saying of location, location, location might be true for wrestlers.

Good call on Toney. Time will tell.

  2. so glad buck carter is in the BGE roster. hopefully he'll do an erotic match with nudity where he's beaten and forced to jerked off by a smaller wrestler.

    1. I don’t know his porn stuff at all, but you’d think that he’d be open to an erotic match and BGEast is the place to make it happen.

  3. Thanks for another thorough and insightful (as usual) review. Not sure how I missed Buck was on Thunders. I totally agree that "Buck" requires a certain flair, and this big boy carries it off. And believe me he's a big, impressive, slab of beef. I also see him more as a BGEast boy than Thunders. He just has that certain something I associate with BG. I can really see him as a great heel. Now my appetite is primed for more Big-n-Beefy.

    1. Don’t feel bad, I’m sure lots of people missed him. I do think he fits better at BGE too.
