The Cast: Who's Who (January 2020)

Guys,

New year, new studs. Four new guys this month with only one familiar face. Three of these new guys are models I've wanted to use for a long time and one was a reader suggestion. They all have more story to tell, so I sure hope you're okay with seeing them again.

Review: Brendan Byers vs. Joey McCoy (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was sent to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

As usual, I'm a catalogue behind with my MBW viewing. They've released catalogue 18 featuring a lot of amazing studs and even shared three matches from that one with me. I'll get to them in February, but there's still work to be done here. Brendan Byers vs. Joey McCoy is the last video I'm reviewing from catalogue 17 but in no way is it the least.

It's a catchweight classic.

Review: #683 Tyson the Champion vs. El Fuego (UCW)

I watched Tyson the Champion vs. El Fuego thanks to a reader suggestion in the comments suggestion for another UCW match (HERE). I’ve praised the masked muscleboy before, so I was game to check it out. I’m actually pretty easily swayed IF it’s a sincere recommendation. I do get the odd self-serving request but most are actually helpful suggestions. I can’t keep up with everything, so comments like these are definitely appreciated (even if I don’t take them).

The champ looks to pop Soda open
in this classic feeling UCW mat match.

Review: Mr. Joshua Goodman vs. Christian Taylor (BGEast)

Mr. Joshua Goodman vs. Christian Taylor is an oldie (filmed in 4:3 ratio) but newly released on the last BGEast catalogue of 2019. It was a must-see for me because of the talent but I had to wait until I was settled. Then I forgot about it and the new catalogue was released. Luckily, the Besties reminded me of its existence and I finally got a chance to enjoy the match.

It's one of the best vs. one of the newest (at the time).

Review: Beast vs. Blayne (Thunders Arena)

Thunders Arena is usually in the $30 range but they were highlighting some for $20. I saw Beast vs. Blayne is one of those. I figured I must have it but I just couldn't remember it. When I double-checked, sure enough I didn't own it. Shocking, I know, but it made buying it an easy decision. It took me a minute to get to watching it but this fun blast from the (recent) past was worth the wait.

Yes, yes, yes!

Wrestler4Hire/Hero Hunks Voting is Open!

Wrestler4Hire is doing annual awards, too. They've opened up their voting at their blog HERE. Because I use streaming, I never really know in what year any of the videos I watch were made, but I know the guys, that's for sure.

One of the interesting things they're doing differently is that the voting results are public, so you'll know what's up.

Who will stand tall in the end?

Review: Ace Owens vs. Zach Reno (Wrestler4Hire)

Ace: "I know this was supposed to be like a friendly exhibition or whatever, but you had to go and try and show off and one up me. So, now I might just have to make you submit."

Okay, it's official. I could never work for most of the wrestling video companies. I have no willpower. Like none. And most of the companies film matches then release them slowly over time. Like I planned to do with this Wrestler4Hire review and yet here I am, posting this two months before I wanted to. Oh well, that's just what these two boys did to me.

It's all Ace's fault that I'm posting this today.

BGEast BESTIES Voting Open

By what definition is 2019 Brendan Byers a Babyface?

That question will likely remain a mystery but who will win one of BGEast's annual awards, the Bestieswill be answered soon.

Yes, voting is open. As you may recall, I helped with nominations (my choices here). This is less about influencing your vote and more about seeing how I did.

Review: Austin Tyler vs. Nick Flex #2 (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

In 2018, I declared Austin Tyler vs. Nick Flex as the best MBW match of the year, the best Nick Flex match ever, and Austin Tyler's best gear ever. All still true. It was set in the small mat room, the action was fierce, the video was crisp and the wrestlers were sweaty and pumped. The match eventually won a Cavey and helped Austin secure the Favorite Wrestler Cavey for 2018.

Now, we have the rematch with the men hitting the ring. How does it go?

The MBW superstars take it to the ring this time.

Review: Rob Palomino vs. David Cuplu (Spotland Scrappers)

New year, new you is a common theme right now. Every brand wants us to embrace change (as long as its us changing to them, not going the other way). Well, here’s something new. My first-ever video from Spotland Scrappers. Not just my first review. Literally the first video I’ve ever purchased and watched from the UK-based wrestling video company. Wow.

It's "old dog" David Cuplu
against young pony Rob Palomino.

Review: Brendan Byers vs. Kayden Keller (BGEast)

Is there anything better than seeing two big heels put their pride on the line against each other? Maybe, but it's definitely one of those storylines that I love. Well, I'm starting 2020 with a couple of big BGEast heels. This Heel Bash 3 match is a few catalogues old (137, we're on 140 now), but my research for my 2019 Besties ballot reminded me about it and that I never reviewed it.

Big boys doing big boy things.

2019 BESTIES Ballot: Nominations

Right before Christmas, Kid Leopard sent me a ballot to make nominations for BGEast's annual awards, the 2019 BESTIES. This is my second chance to participate in the nomination process (I do vote every year). I don't know how many people get to nominate, but based on 2017, there must be quite a few so my influence is limited. And BGEast fans make the ultimate call on the winners.

Last time, I made a post about it which was surprisingly popular. I figure you guys enjoy this type of content, so I'll take the risk and share again. I'm kidding on the risk thing. Either Joe or Bard (I can't remember) commented once that they didn't like sharing their votes because people complained and got their feelings hurt. No one said anything to me and the Caveys are a much bolder statement, so I think it'll be okay.

A kiss for good luck then BAM! Cole, Cameron
and their match are well-represented in my votes.
