Mindsweeper Monday: TCCW 16

TCCW are wrestling stories from two different Yahoo! groups from the early 2000's. These entries were part of a much larger universe led by other writers. There are references to characters, events and matches that will not be posted here. Titles change hands, friendships and alliances form and dissolve, all without you ever seeing it. Imagine you are watching an Indy fed sporadically.

Note: You can find ALL (?) the stories by all authors in order in their original versions HERE - thanks for the link, Mangler!

Texas College Championship Wrestling 16

Elton (MW) versus Noel (MW)

Elton was scheduled to wrestle in the fourth match of the night against Noel. In between, Vinny and Luis were squaring off followed by a couple of newbies.

After his beating by Jordan at the end of the first match of the night, the Chairman told Elton he would scratch the match. Elton refused to agree but the Chairman had a responsibility to protect the guys. Noel, surprisingly, was also refusing to cancel the match. He told the Chairman, "If he can't go on then it is a forfeit." With both wrestlers refusing to go along, the Chairman relented and the match was back on.

When Patrick heard this, he hobbled over to Noel's room. Noel opened the door and was shocked at how rough Patrick looked. Noel let him in, made him sit down and got him a bottle of water.

Patrick said, "Noel, I know that Elton is crazy enough to wrestle tonight. But I'm surprised at you. I can't believe you want a win this badly. Why are you making him wrestle? Why won't you agree to call it off?"

Noel hung his head. He liked and respected Patrick but was resolute in his opinion. "Patrick, Elton chose to run into your match. He chose to interfere. It wasn't like there were lots of guys attacking you after the match. The match was still going on and it was just you and Jordan in the ring."

Noel continued, "I hate run-ins. No matter who does them or who is involved. Jordan's a prick, trust me I know. My brother was in high school with him. He told me how brutal he was and he's just as bad in college now. But I can't condone Elton for running in to help you and then condemn my friend Vinny for doing the same thing. It would be way too hypocritical. I am sorry if Elton is not 100%. But his condition is his own fault."

Patrick said, "But Noel, Jordan locked him in his dressing room!"

Noel shook his head, "Elton should not have needed to leave his dressing room. He wasn't wrestling until the fourth match of the night. And once released, he should have maintained control of himself. He was angry with Jordan for tricking him and decided to charge. He wasn't thinking and paid the price. You can't change my mind."

On his way out, Patrick turned and said, "Noel, I see your point. I'm glad it is based on principle and not on you wanting an easy win. I hope we can still be friends." Noel smiled and reached out to shake Patrick's hand. Patrick said, "I would just ask that you not hurt Elton any more than you have to. Please be responsible."

Noel said, "Patrick, I never go out there to injure anyone. If I can get a pin or submission early, I will. But I won't take it easy on Elton and set myself up for another loss."

THE FOLLOWING CONTEST IS A MIDDLEWEIGHT MATCH, ONE FALL WITH A THIRTY-MINUTE TIME LIMIT. INTRODUCING FIRST, THE CHALLENGER, WEIGHING IN AT 187 POUNDS, WEARING THE BLACK SINGLET, HERE IS ELTON!

Elton emerged from the curtain. He was wearing his tight black singlet. He could barely lift the straps so he did it before leaving the back. He walked slowly because of the pain his body was in. The matches between his beating and his match with Noel had lasted 30 minutes. With setup time, it was only 40 minutes since Jordan had roughed him up.

Elton climbed into the ring and focused. He would have to strike quickly to get Noel down. If the match went more than ten minutes, Elton knew he would lose. Still, he would not forfeit. He would not give up without a fight. From the back of the arena, Patrick watched with a big knot in his stomach.

AND HIS OPPONENT, WEIGHING IN AT 172 POUNDS, WEARING THE PINK AND BLACK TIGHTS, HERE IS NOEL!

Noel came trotting down the aisle. He hopped into the ring and waved to his friends in the audience. The ref called them together. Elton stared at Noel. The guy was a strong one, Elton had to admit. He didn't have the typical wrestler's body but more of a football player's build.

The ref called them together. As they shook hands, Elton said, "Thank you for going through with this match." Noel was surprised by the comment. At his confused look, Elton smiled and said, "Every action has consequences. I was stupid and if I lose to you, I deserve it. But Noel, don't count the win yet. I'm not going to role over for you."

Noel felt honored by Elton's speech. He was glad to see that Elton saw things in the same light as he did. Noel said simply, "Elton, there's no such thing as a sure thing. That's why we wrestle."

The bell rang and the match was on.Noel charged Elton. Elton backed off trying to get his feet under him. He and Patrick had discussed two strategies. If he could shock Noel with a power move, he might be able to sneak a pin. He had tried out his full nelson in the back and didn't trust he could get any power behind it.The other strategy, the one he had settled on, was to try and take out Noel's legs. Elton knew a couple of leg submission moves and it would also temper Noel's best move - his leg scissors.

Elton moved towards Noel. He lifted his right foot into Noel's gut. Noel was caught off guard. Elton took advantage and grabbed Noel's head. He leaned back and DDT'ed Noel to the mat!

As Elton fell on his own back, he was left as flat on the mat as Noel. Both wrestlers were on the mat writhing in pain. Elton dipped a little deeper into his reserve. He rolled Noel over and went for a cover. He got only a one count.

Elton lifted Noel's legs into the air. He stomped on the back of Noel's thighs hard. Noel squirmed to free himself but Elton held firm. Elton dropped a knee into the back of Noel's right leg. He let the right fall and immediately stood on the ankle while keeping Noel's left leg up. He stretched Noel's groin hard. The ref asked if Noel wanted to submit but it was too early for that.

Elton twisted Noel's left ankle, keeping up the pressure. Noel slapped the mat in pain and frustration. His legs were cramping after minutes of non-stop leg torture.

Elton got off Noel's right leg and dropped down on the inside of Noel's left leg! Both wrestlers cried out as Noel felt his leg seize up and Elton felt his aching side collapse from the move.

Elton rolled back and stood. He wrapped his legs around Noel's, going for a figure four. He dropped back, sending more pain through his back. But he had Noel in a tough, tough submission move. He hoped it would be enough as he poured on the pressure!

Like Luis before him, Noel realized that he would have to counter the move fast!

Noel felt his knees cramping. The ref was asking if he submitted. He refused! Noel kept his wits about him and rolled to the left. As Elton rolled to the right to block the counter, Noel changed directions, using Elton's own momentum to counter the hold! The wrestlers rolled over onto their stomachs, the pressure now on Elton's knees! Elton had no choice but to release the hold.

Elton stood gingerly as Noel lay on the mat clutching his knees. Elton laid the boots to his knees. Noel rolled away and got to his knees in the corner. He shook the cobwebs out of his head.

Noel stood up slowly. He felt his legs cramping but worked them out as best he could. He saw Elton moving in and moved out to meet him. The two wrestlers converged and locked up. Noel powered Elton into a headlock. Elton hammered his forearms into Noel's kidneys. Noel had to release the headlock. Elton quickly dipped down and grabbed Noel.

Elton lifted Noel into the air. As he went to slam him, his back gave out. Five minutes in Jordan's Boston Crab had done some real damage - nothing he could recover from in half an hour. Elton stumbled back, Noel's 172 pounds crashed on top of him.

Noel hooked his leg, but Elton kicked out at two. Noel got up and landed fists into Elton's gut. Elton cried out and tried to curl into the fetal position. Noel seized the opportunity, rolling Elton between his legs.

Noel locked his legs around Elton's waist and his arms under Elton's arms in a full nelson/leg scissor combination. He squeezed his thighs together hard.

Despite Elton's torture of his legs, his scissors was his best move. He had beaten a healthy Vinny with it and Vinny had some of the toughest abs in the middleweight division. Elton struggled but he was helpless. He could not separate the killer clutch and moaned as his aching ribs and abs were slowly crushed. His leg work had not been enough!

After less than a minute, Elton submitted! He said, "I GIVE! I GIVE!" for the first time in an official match. He had submitted to Patrick in their play matches but never in front of a crowd or to a real opponent.

Noel immediately released the hold. He was now 4-1. A great record and he felt worthy of the next title shot.

Elton slapped the mat, feeling weak for having given in. He had been defeated in minutes. When he tried to stand, though, he could not. He felt a pair of hands under his arms. He turned and it was Noel helping him up. Elton wanted to shake him off but didn't have the strength. He respected Noel and accepted his help all the way to the back.

Elton was consumed with anger at Jordan but he would not take it out on Noel. Elton met up with Patrick and the two relaxed until the end of the night, commiserating and planning their next steps. Patrick wanted to face Jordan again right away but Elton said no. He told Patrick to challenge Timon and continue on with his plan.

Elton said, "Jordan's day will come. But I'm not going to let him control me. I did tonight and I lost to Noel because of it. I know I won't be ready for a rematch with Daryl, so I am going to challenge that Bryan guy, instead. Patrick, learn from this. Always keep your head or you'll end up like me - with a loss and a delay in your plan. You have to think about you and not focus on other guys."

Patrick nodded solemnly. Elton and Noel were right. You had to remain in control of yourself.

*****

The Chairman was impressed by the guys tonight. Six of the eight guys who had wrestled so far had behaved professionally and maturely. And Elton had learned a lesson, making it seven of eight. Only Jordan prevented this from being a spotless evening so far.

The Chairman looked at the remaining matches and hoped they would go as smoothly. He also made a note. Noel was due some consideration for the MW title. He would have to check his stats and arrange something once the HW Championship was determined.

THE END
