Review: #607 Austin Tyler vs. Ref Trevor (UCW)

Ref Trevor: Everyone and anyone is going to lose to me. I will always be undefeated. Starting at the expense of this asshole.

Here's the follow-up to my last review of the latest UCW tag team match. I'm so glad this is being resolved so quickly. I assume that there's still Axel vs. Ref Trevor to come, but Austin Tyler vs. Ref Trevor gives the hot indie hunk and fans some measure of closure as the diabolical ref from the tag match is made to answer for his dirty dealing. Or is he? The unpredictability and competitiveness of this match is just one element that makes it amazing.

Trevor transitions from ref to wrestler.

Austin Tyler seems to always be spectacular. He's an awesome fit at UCW. The young stud fits the young and tough model, but with a unique vibe thanks to his abundance of muscles and good looks. He's also unique because he probably plays more fairly than any other guy in the place. I'm drawn to his energy and spirit every time I see him in action.

Ref Trevor makes the move from (evil) ref to (evil) wrestler. He's more typical of UCW with "wrong side of the tracks" bad boy style that you don't really see anywhere else. However, he also fills out a pair of simple green trunks really nicely in front and back. I like his swagger, coming in with the confidence of a guy who'll do anything to win.

Austin is always stunning.

The roughneck ref is very UCW.

Trevor doesn't seem to mind being tied up.

Austin Tyler vs. Ref Trevor is driven by a desire for payback, but there's a lot more to it as it moves on. It would've been simple to make a squash where good guy wrestler gets revenge on nefarious ref. It makes sense and we could all cheer. However, that's not UCW's style. Ref Trevor is more wrestler than ref, confident and capable from the start. Austin will have to earn retribution.

This completely back-and-forth match shows the benefit of being a ref first. The better you know the rules, the easier it is to break them. It's worked that way for Bill Belichick (sorry, Patriots fans). Ref Trevor has the skill, strength and lack of morality to give the pro wrestling superstar a real run for his money and I love it.

Austin wants to be on top.

Will this knock some sense into the ref?

Wow, a wrestler can't handle a ref?
How humiliating.

Ref Trevor knows more than how to cheat. He also executes some great holds with complete cockiness and maximizes the pain with that extra oomph. Austin is an incredible star and a consummate professional. He suffers beautifully, both physically and audibly. And when it's his turn to dish out the punishment, he does the holds perfectly. And Ref Trevor moans and sells, looking pretty hot doing it, too.

The referee puts the wrestlers in knots.

Does indie hunk Austin get his revenge?

Or can ref Trevor count himself a win?

In the end, this was the perfect follow-up to the tag team match. It's a fantastic singles match on its own, but obvious the drama that sets it up takes this to a new level. The contrasts are clear and the action is hot as heck. I especially love the moments where Ref Trevor is at his best and baddest, where he controls the sexy indie wrestling stud.

So that's my take. What's yours?
