Review: Dante vs. Scrappy McNair (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

Scrappy McNair has been amazing for a long time, but MBW seems to have really let him let loose in a new way. And it's more than just flaunting his mountainous and muscular butt in a jock (blue this time). The action runs longer, there's more of it, it's more intense and he gets to really show off what he's learned over the years. I like it.

Scrappy vs. Brendan Byers was an instant classic (reviewed here). How about Scrappy vs. Dante?

Dante's happy to see Scrappy at MBW.
And Scrappy's happy to see Dante.

In addition to the new surroundings, Scrappy is facing new kinds of opponents. I can't see either classic heel Brendan Byers or feisty youngster Dante at Thunders Arena, but both have been a great match for the pint-sized powerhouse. They're more fighters than posers, which leads to the increased intensity. And cocky sadist Scrappy thrives with intensity.

Two hot studs hit the mats.

Scrappy can do it all.

Look at those muscles ...
you'll never break free that way, Dante.

Dante vs. Scrappy is a very different match than his MBW debut. This time, he's definitely the alpha. He's also a flirt with us and a seducer with his opponent. Dante is licking his lips at the chance to wrestler the adorable muscle stud. I like seeing him admired and Dante can be excused for being a little distracted at the start.

It feels like it's going to be a squash, but Dante eventually gathers his wits to get a few moments on top. But Scrappy's the heel here. He's loving life as he gleefully and ruthlessly destroys the MBW veteran. Dante's back leaner than before, but I don't think that extra bulk would've helped him here. I've talked before about how scary and sexy Scrappy is when he unleashes his ultimate inner heel and Dante gets to see it firsthand.

Pretty in pink.

Dante gets over his infatuation.

By the end, Scrappy is one shiny sadist.

Action-wise, the wrestling is pretty standard for MBW, but Scrappy is one of those wrestlers who elevates everything. The guys run through rough-and-tumble body work, power moves and submission holds. Both guys sell the crap out of the pain and enjoy the domination. They look great suffering and Scrappy is soaking wet and glowing by the end.

Scrappy's a real beast with guys his size.

Dante's unleashing his own inner heel.

Scrappy loves showing off a new side at MBW.

In the end, another Scrappy winner. Dante's good, too, but I feel like this is Scrappy's video. You could swap in other jobbers and get the same video, but you couldn't swap out Scrappy. I love the sweat, the intensity, the chemistry and the action. The incredible fireplug is so versatile that he could thrive anywhere, but he's really presenting something new at MBW.

What are other bloggers saying?

So that's my take. What's yours?

  1. You summed it up perfectly, Alex: "You could swap in other jobbers and get the same video, but you couldn't swap out Scrappy." My thoughts exactly, and it goes for pretty much all of his videos!

    1. Thanks! I agree you can never swap out Scrappy, because of his huge personality, but I think there are definitely opponents he's faced who can't be swapped out, like when he faced Blayne, for example.

    2. Whoa -- talk about being on the same wavelength: Blayne was EXACTLY who I had in mind when I posted my previous message! I actually almost typed "except maybe Blayne" but got interrupted by a phone call and lost my train of thought. The matches between Blayne and Scrappy are pure magic, but the one where they teamed up against Duke is my favorite involving them -- especially the parts where they can't resist temporarily turning on each other before getting back on the same page. (Seriously, if you haven't seen that video yet, you definitely should, and now that I think about it, I may have bought it based on your review!)

I like Scrappy and Blayne much better as heels than jobbers because it allows them to show off the power of their physiques, and they both seem to relish being dominant. They're truly two superstars of the underground scene!
