Review: Cameron Matthews vs. Cole Cassidy (BGEast)

BGEast has started to tease their new catalogue on The Arena. First up is Demolition 27, featuring three nasty heels (Cole Cassidy, Shane McCall, Josh Goodman) against three jobbers (Cameron Matthews, Drake Marcos, Christian Taylor). They've released Cole Cassidy vs. Cameron Matthews on VOD, which is weird because normally the match I want most to see is last to be available.

Since the fates had smiled kindly on me, I just had to check it out.

Cameron vs. Cole has escaped the vault.

This is one of those old 4:3 ratio videos that was shot years ago. Cameron Matthews is the biggest clue. He isn't the muscular man we see in Wrestler4Hire, but the lean young pretty boy pro wrestler that we loved to see suffer. He's stunning in color-blocked trunks, revealing white in front and ass-gripping blue in back. Of course, those trunks don't always grip that ass. Cole wants to see his smooth flawless butt cheeks, so he pulls them up and down.

KRAKT! Cameron goes up three times
and he goes down three times. In a row.

Cole's curious and who can blame him?

Now, that's how a single leg crab gets applied.

Since this is a Demolition video featuring one of the top heels of the time and one of the biggest jobbers, there's no risk of spoiling it. I will say that it is not 100% squash, but I don't think the outcome is ever in doubt. Not even when Cameron gets a submission or when he counters the heel a few times. No, this video promise young jobber boy destruction and it delivers.

Cole Cassidy is a great classic heel. Lean and ripped in black, he's in total badass mode. There's  inter-generational tension here, along with Cole's lust for the young punk. He means to teach the boy a lesson in the ring and out of it. The ending is incredibly provocative as Cole literally closes the door on the video to continue young Cameron's lesson.

Ouch! Right on his pretty face.

Cameron's a feisty jobber.

But he's still a jobber.

Action-wise, things start out with a quick setup. Cameron's getting ready in the bathroom. Cole storms in, saying he's late. The fight begins (and ends) in the bathroom then moves to the famous ring room. The guys exchange full nelsons outside the ring. At the six-minute mark, Cameron gets cocky, Cole gets serious. With 30-more minutes of non-stop wrestling and a sexy finish, it's great value.

With two talented professionals who are both into this match, the wrestling is top-notch. The submission holds are applied firmly and painful-looking. The power moves are big and ring-shaking. Cole's body-work looks vicious and his attacks are relentless. Cameron's counters keep things exciting and make him a jobber to admire.

Among the highlights ... the 25-second climb of shame is beautiful, but unfortunately un-GIFable. I could see myself just watching that over and over. I always love Cole's devastating heart punch. Cameron's bare ass is beautiful. The suspended surfboard goes on forever and just keeps getting more and more intense as Cole tortures the young stud. And Cole's three OTK's in a row? Amazing.

Cole's heart punch is perfection.

Cameron's fighting, but his back is wrecked.

Bare-assed and trapped, what's a boy to do?

In the end, this is an instant classic. It's obviously been in the vault for a while, but it's timeless. Cameron's incredible at any age. Cole's an all-time great. The action is perfect. And the ending is surprising and smoking hot. Pretty sneaky releasing this right under the wire for the 2019 Caveys, BGEast.

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex

  1. Am I seriously the first person to comment on what looks like an amazing match with Cameron, possibly the best jobber and definitely my #1 wrestler? I'm gonna just chalk that up because it was posted so close to Thanksgiving.

I've been avoiding BGEast products for a while because they're the only ones that still don't have a download to own option. However, when this match is released on DVD, I might not be able to hold back and am probably gonna break.

This match looks absolutely perfect, Alex! Cole dominating for most of it with Cameron putting up just a little fight to keep it interesting. Looking forward to the climb of shame you mentioned, the ending and, well, everything. Happy Thanksgiving, Alex!

    1. Thanks! I had a great second Thanksgiving! Canadian TG in October was family, this was friends, but both were great.

I did expect this to get more response, but yes, Thanksgiving is usually a dead zone on the blog. And I might be too early because most people have not seen it.

I did love this match. The lack of downloads is why BGEast can never win a Gold Cavey and it's so frustrating.
