Review: Aspen vs. Joey King/Brute (Thunders Arena)
Aspen won my 2018 Cavey Award for Favorite Porn Crossover in a surprisingly competitive category. There are a lot and that's not even including guys who dabble in nudity and such. No, amongst studs (that I know) were established porn actors who then discovered wrestling, there were several strong contenders.
One of the reasons he rose to the top was that he also did wrestling-only videos, both in Muscleboy Wrestling and in Thunders Arena. It's a big step, jumping from the mats to the ring. Then, on top of that shift, starting against working pro wrestling heels? Wow. So, how did Aspen's Thunders adventure go?

Review: #638 Tyson the Hammer vs. Austin Tyler (UCW)
One of my favorite things about UCW is that they have a long-standing championship belt that gets frequently defended. Rookie Chase Michaels upending "Golden Boy" Axel a few years ago in match #490 was the high point for me (reviewed here), but it's still fun to see something be on the line. The current champ is Tyson the Hammer, whom I've liked a lot but only reviewed a couple of times. And his opponent is my 2018 Cavey Award winner for Favorite Wrestler.
Yes, Tyson Hammer vs. Austin Tyler for the belt was a must-buy.

It's a big title match at UCW. |

Review: Calvin Haynes vs. Blake Starr (Wrestler4Hire)
Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by W4H MAX.
Note: This review was written prior to W4H MAX shutting down and the videos being moved to Wrestler4Hire. I didn't feel like re-writing or delaying the post. Apparently Cameron came to the same conclusion as me.
Wrestler4Hire's other spinoff, W4H MAX, describes itself as "the dark, dirty, twisted twin of Wrestler4Hire". I guess MAX is in the eye of the beholder, because I could see thing going a lot farther, but they sent me a coupon for two videos, so I figured I'd check it out. From what I've seen, the big difference is that the guys wear thongs and/or wrestle in oil, both of which don't seem like a giant leap from the regular Wrestler4Hire website.
Anyway, I picked two completely different videos to see what was up. One is a simple, story-free mat match featuring Calvin Haynes facing Blake Starr. The other, which I haven't watched yet, is a domination squash featuring 6'3"/225-lbs Joey Nux getting crushed by 3'9"/90-lbs Ricky Vegas. I think I'll need to be in the right mood for that second one.

It's hairy lean vs. hairy beefy in this surprisingly competitive mat match. |

Review: Loki vs. Scrappy (Thunders Arena)
We're back with more Loki from Thunders Arena. As I said in my previous Loki review, I was very excited to see him. And putting him against Cavey Award winning hunks like Cason (2018 Favorite Young Muscle) and Scrappy (2017 Favorite Wrestler) made these a safe bet. We know I loved the chemistry he shared with Cason. Do I like Loki vs. Scrappy as much? Or at all?
Loki just keeps smiling. |

Q + A: Marco (Underground Wrestler)
I'm sure that most of you know that Marco has launched his own underground wrestling video endeavor, appropriately titled Underground Wrestler. As with any new video producer, I was both curious and a little confused. I mean, it sounds interesting, but what exactly is it? How does it work? How is it different?
As luck would have it, in December, I was offered the chance to interview Marco. Unfortunately, December was a very busy month for me. I was definitely interested, though. And so, I thought of a few questions and things we could chat about. I ended up sending them via email, just to see what he thought, and very quickly got replies to all of them! Wow.

Wow, quick turnaround on these answers! (Marco vs. Iceman - Bearhugs) |

Review: Derek Bolt vs. Blake Hunter (Muscleboy Wrestling)
Full disclosure: This match was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.
My appreciation of Derek Bolt only grows with every tweet he posts and MBW video I see. On Twitter, he comes across as a smart, driven and down-to-earth guy who works hard, plays hard and enjoys life. On the mats, he's been a ton of fun and he plays with porn star jobbers, using his muscles to dominate then fuck his more than willing victims.
Derek Bolt vs. Blake Hunter looks like more of the same, except they're in a ring. So, am I still into Derek? You bet.

PSA: 2019 Besties Voting Is Open (BGEast)
It's awards season at BGEast. I'm sure that many of you vote for the Besties, the annual recognition of fan favorites at BGEast. Last year, I shared my Besties nominations (not votes) with you in a very popular post. I couldn't do that this year, as I wasn't invited to participate. It's just as well. I haven't seen a ton of these nominees.
What earned my vote in 2018? |

Review: Brad Barnes vs. Johnny Jobber (Wrestler4Hire)
I'll be honest. Brad Barnes vs. Johnny Jobber was nowhere near my radar, but a reader actually emailed me to ask me to review it. I was flattered that he cared so much about my opinion, but it wasn't streaming, so I begged off. Fortunately, Wrestler4Hire had their recent huge 40% off sale. At that price, I figured 'what the heck?' and bought the download.
Like most story-centric squash videos, I needed to wait to be in the right mood when I watched this. I did wait and I was in the right mood. And so, I really enjoyed it.

Depending on your perspective, Brad is either the best client a bank can have or the worst. I vote best. |

Review: Cason vs. Loki (Thunders Arena)
By now, you've probably bought Loki's debut matches from Thunders Arena or you aren't going to. I know that I'm late to the party with this hunk, but I love him too much not to post about him. He's one of my fantasy guys that I wished would wrestle and now that he is, I'm pretty excited.
I immediately bought two of them during the sales, but only really got to watch them recently. It was tough knowing that Cason vs. Loki was sitting on my hard drive, but I made it through the holidays and this was a wonderful way to start the new year.

Review: Brendan Byers vs. Caleb "Scrappy" McNair (Muscleboy Wrestling)
Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.
2019 is off to a great start for me, at least in terms of wrestling videos. Wrestler4Hire and Thunders Arena produced winners last year that I only watched this year. And Muscleboy Wrestling released their eleventh catalogue in December. It's a star-studded collection, but one of the biggest surprises was a certain match bringing together two studs from different sides of the gay wrestling video world. Brendan Byers vs. Scrappy McNair immediately interested me, so I had to watch it first, ahead of all the other hot videos.
Scrappy: What's up, big guy? Ready to get your ass whupped? Or you could just get on your knees and worship this muscle. It'd be a lot easier for you.

It's a surprising and satisfying matchup when these two get together. |

Review: Frey vs. Professor Muscles (Thunders Arena)
I watched Frey vs. Professor Muscles last year? It seems like ages ago. I was going to review it at the time, but after viewing, I just couldn't get interested enough to do it. However, after an off-hand remark in another review, an anonymous commenter (or maybe two) requested that I explain why I felt how I felt. And so, as a bit of fan service, I decided to write about it. It still took me a while to think of an angle, but I finally hit on something.
I bought this because I was really interested in the new muscleman because of his name and look, plus Frey is usually great with rookies. Unfortunately, things didn't work for me.

I bought it for the promise of Professor Muscles. |

Review: Batman vs. Bane (Hero Hunks)
Note: This video is called Dark Detective vs. Vengeance on the Hero Hunk’s site. Thanks, Ivam for the comment!
After basically taking a month off from posting about new videos, I have a lot of catch up on. I figured I'd start here, because I don't think others bloggers have touched on it, yet. W.R. covered a different video on his Screencaps blog, but I haven't seen this one mentioned. The rest of January, I'll be repeating what others have reviewed, but let's start fresh.
By now, you probably know that Wrestler4Hire has launched a couple of spinoff sites. One of those is focused on superheroes. They've always had superhero content, so I'm not sure why the need for Hero Hunks, but perhaps it's just an organizational tool to keep things focused. Not that it matters. Fact is, you can't put out superhero content without me being curious. And when one of your first videos is Batman vs. Bane, you can pretty much just take my money.

The Cave Unleashed 8: Beau vs. Keith
This is a sequel to The Cave Unleashed 7: Beau vs. Toby
Keith’s Cabin, El Paso TX.
“So, the boy’s finally wantin’ to prove he’s a man.”
Beau growls, “I’m always a man. Always was. Always will be. I just wanna kick your lying, cheating ass.”
