Review: JJ Allen vs. Taylor Reign (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

Taylor Reign vs. JJ Allen was released back in catalogue 5 (MBW is now within a fortnight of releasing catalogue 8). As so often happens, it sat on my hard drive for a long time, but I eventually got around to it. I'm not sure why I didn't look at it, as I like both guys, but better late than never.

Taylor takes control of JJ (who doesn't seem to mind).

Review: Chase Addams vs. Kirk Donahue (BGEast)

Here I am, going out of order in my viewing. I still haven't watched the Pride Center matches from the BGEast event, while this supposedly happens after that. I actually OTA’ed the event, figuring some of it is going to a good cause. Although now that I type that, I realize that I'm not sure if that's actually true or not. Oh well, it's not like I was going to declare it as a charitable donation on my taxes. Point is that it seems to have removed my sense of urgency. VODs you need to deal with immediately. OTAs not so much.

Instead of watching the Pride Center event, I've gotten distracted by a couple of related matches from this latest catalogue. Although this compilation references the big event, Chase Addams vs. Kirk Donahue isn't a direct continuation of the Pride Center event. In fact, Chase isn't even on that card, but I guess he was in town and wanted a shot at Kirk. And frankly, who wouldn't? The jobber is simply fantastic at what he does.

Review: Braden Charron vs. Scrappy (Wrestler4Hire)

It's raining Scrappy over at Wrestler4Hire. No sooner did I stream his match against Ace Owens (reviewed here) than he had a second match available. And this time, the combination is even better. Scrappy vs. Braden is one that immediately captured my attention. I didn't really think about them meeting up, but as soon as I saw it, it felt right. Like an inter-generational match between two kindred spirits.

Review: #584 Golden Boy/Gorilla vs. Joker/Quinn (UCW)

For those of you that read my stories, you know I'm a fan of tag team action. It's more challenging to write, but I try to do at least one a year. I love the psychology and the action of a really good pro wrestling tag team match. And under the layer of UCW-style chaos and crazy, Austin/Axel vs. Joker/Quinn turns out to be a really good pro wrestling tag team match.

It's a UCW tag team extravaganza.

One-Hit Wonders Part 2

In my first one-hit wonders (1HW) post (here), I said I was going to feature five of them. I covered two, so that leaves how many? Yes, three. Good job. Today's studs all faced great opponents that I'm sure many of you will remember. In fact, their opponents’ looks, personas and reputations are a big part of why I remember the 1HWs. That's not a knock. No wrestler can succeed on his own.

And it's not all about their opponents. Each of these 1HWs personally showed me the skill, personality and looks to succeed, but none of them ever even got to a second match, much less became a star. Still, their lone appearance makes them part of wrestling history and worthy of being remembered and recognized.
