2017 Cavey Awards: Promotions
Welcome to the third and final day of the 2017 Cavey Awards.
I've given awards to my favorite wrestlers and matches. Now, I recognize my favorite producers. This year, I'm singling out three promotions with gold, silver and bronze awards. I judge this based on my overall experience, including quality of wrestling action and video, appeal of their talent, as well as customer experience, including value (what I get for what I pay) and ease of doing business with them (e.g., distribution model).

2017 Cavey Awards: Matches
It's day two of the 2017 Cavey Awards.
Today, we're focusing on the matches. Even pairing the best wrestlers doesn't mean the match will be a winner. So here are my favorites where hot studs combined to produce magic. I shared the rules yesterday, but as a reminder, matches are eligible if I watched them for the first time between December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2017.

2017 Cavey Awards: Wrestlers
Welcome to the third annual Cavey Awards.
I really appreciate every single man who puts himself out there and wrestles for us. And that includes the guys I rave about, the ones I don't and the ones I've never even watched. And I really appreciate every company that releases gay-oriented wrestling videos. All of the wrestlers and producers are amazing and I know that all have fans who would give them an award.
The Caveys are simply my way to recognize a few of MY personal favorite wrestlers, matches and promotions for the year. I use the word ‘favorite’ deliberately. I don't claim these are the ‘best’. That suggests some kind of objective standard and ranking. These are 100% subjective and 100% mine. And I doubt anyone will agree with me on all of these. And that's cool. These are simply my favorites based on my feelings about what I watch this year.

2016 Cavey Awards: Promotions
Welcome to the third and final day of the 2016 Cavey Awards.
I've named my favorite wrestlers of 2016. And I've named my favorite matches. Now, it's time to recognize the producers. These are the guys who make it all happen. The wrestlers might still be off wrestling, but we wouldn't be able to see it. They really put their blood, sweat and tears into these companies. It's not easy and even though I don't like everything, I respect their entrepreneurial spirit and drive.
These were really tough. Not because of the choices, but to identify the categories. So instead of force-fitting back into roster or action or gear, I’ve decided to give out four Cavey Awards in ranked order - Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention. I took into account the wrestling, the roster, and ease of doing business with them.

2016 Cavey Awards: Matches
Welcome to day two of the 2016 Cavey Awards.
Yesterday, I gave awards to my favorite wrestlers of 2016. Today, it's my favorite matches.
Matches were tough, but easier than wrestlers. I started with a list of 16 and got it down to 7 winners fairly easily. Not surprisingly, there's a lot of crossover - my favorite matches starred many of my favorite wrestlers.
In terms of changes, I scrapped the Favorite WTF?!? Match (no contenders this year), but added Favorite Pro vs. Pro, Favorite Superhero, and Favorite Outdoor as new categories.
Here are the videos that earned recognition as my FAVORITE MATCHES OF 2016 ...

A year ago, I handed out my inaugural Cavey Awards to my favorite wrestlers, matches and producers. I was really happy with how it all turned out, so I definitely wanted to continue. Now, I have made some changes, but nothing too dramatic.
I am still calling the winners "Favorites" rather than "Best". I feel like "Best" sounds like an objective measure that can be argued, but someone's "Favorites" is clearly personal, subjective and can't legitimately be debated. Questioned, maybe, but not argued.

The 2015 Caveys: Matches
Welcome to my inaugural Cavey Awards.
The Cavey Awards are my attempt at a year-end wrap-up where I recognize the wrestlers and producers who I think did a great job.
The Rules
Results are based entirely on my experiences in 2015 and nothing else. They're reflective of what I watched this year (up to December 15th) , regardless of when it was produced or I bought/rented it. For example, the remaining Thunder's Arena summer 2015 matches I haven't watched yet will be eligible for a 2016 Cavey, not 2015.
I don't watch every wrestler, match or promotion. So that means there might be something or someone amazingly awesome out there that deserves recognition, but if I haven't seen it, it's not eligible. Like the Oscars, it might skew towards the most recent stuff. At the start of the year I had no idea I would try this. I'm not 100% sure what I watched early this year vs. late last year, but I did try to look back.
Of course the comment box is a great place for YOU to weigh in on anyone or anything you think is deserving of an award.
I appreciate the challenge of real awards shows a little more now. Choosing one winner in any category is tough. I deliberately call them 'Favorite' as opposed to 'Best', because this is all my subjective assessment.
