2019 Cavey Awards: Matches

It's day two for the 5th Annual Cavey Awards.

Review: Cameron Matthews vs. Cole Cassidy (BGEast)

BGEast has started to tease their new catalogue on The Arena. First up is Demolition 27, featuring three nasty heels (Cole Cassidy, Shane McCall, Josh Goodman) against three jobbers (Cameron Matthews, Drake Marcos, Christian Taylor). They've released Cole Cassidy vs. Cameron Matthews on VOD, which is weird because normally the match I want most to see is last to be available.

Since the fates had smiled kindly on me, I just had to check it out.

Review: Cole Cassidy vs. Tarzan Tyler Reese (BGEast)

A recent comment got me thinking about this classic BGEast match again. I knew I wanted to post about Cole Cassidy vs. Tarzan Tyler Reese as soon as I read the comment, so here we are. I even VOD'ed it, because my copy is good enough for me, but not as good as I wanted for a post.

Review: Cole Cassidy vs. Joshua Goodman (BGEast)

This is my second "must-see" match from Ringwars 26, part of BGEast's catalogue 117.1.

I can appreciate BGEast's desire to always have matches in the can. I like having content uploaded well in advance, too. Still, they must have been holding onto the stellar combination of Cole Cassidy vs. Joshua Goodman for years. How many years? I can't be sure, but it's shot in 4:3 ratio and both guys look their best. This shows a level of restraint I don't think I possess.

Review: Joe vs. the Heels (BGEast)

I love heel vs. heel action. There's just something about two bad guys battling it out for supremacy. The arrogance. The attitude. The pure testosterone-fueled tension. It's especially hot when it's two undefeated, established heels going at each other. I’m talking two mega-heels with a line of broken jobbers in their wake. Heels who never lose rather than heels who go both ways. I love watching them put reputations as the baddest of the bad on the line.

BGEast has the biggest stable of traditional heels. They bring these matches out occasionally and I'm a total mark for them, even if I’m not a huge fan of the heels normally. For example, I was anxiously awaiting the Guido Genatto/Dolph Danner match from catalogue 112 to make it to VOD, which it finally has.
