Review: Young Ady vs. Max Morrison (Spotland Scrappers)

I would be a terrible eyewitness, apparently. When I bought Young Ady vs. Max Morrison from Spotland Scrappers, I briefly looked at one preview image on their transactional site and saw a rugged badass who I assumed to be Max Morrison. I liked Young Ady against Rob Palomino, so I thought, "Oh cool, I want to see him face this guy!" Yeah, turns out that guy is Young Ady, just with a different haircut.

Like literally, that's the only difference. Same guy. Same GIANT pec/shoulder tattoo that I somehow missed? The guy I wanted to see face Young Ady is ... Young Ady.

See, doesn't he look rough and tough?

The Cast: Who's Who (June 2020)

Guys,

June is in the books. Jae made a triumphant return against a popular newbie. And I marked my 200th story on the blog. Yay. As usual, my milestone stories are mainly written for me, something different that I find interesting. I'm an X-Men fan, so alternate futures are natural for me. It's one of their two staple (ie. cliche) storylines (along with the Phoenix, which I also brought into the story).

Fun fact ... the opening in the gallery was originally conceived as how I'd introduce The Cave in a visual medium, like a comic book. Cody and Ryan would've faced off with robbers at a bank branch, quickly establishing their different personalities and the pro wrestling world - forearms not firearms, chairs as the weapon of choice, and pro wrestling gear as designer fashion. I changed the way it would play out and the location (will there be bank branches in 2041?) but I was happy to have the thought live somewhere.

Review: Johnny Greco vs. Jesse Zane (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was sent to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

Jesse: "Dude, word on the street is that you like to lose."

I wonder what streets Jesse is hanging out on where they talk about jobbers? I've already raved about Bull Barrett's sophomore video against Brendan Byers (reviewed here). Now, I've had a chance to watch his rookie opponent, Johnny Greco, in his second match against self-proclaimed MBW champ Jesse Zane. Bull crushed it in his second match. Can Johnny do the same?

Jesse: "You don't fucking know what you're in for."

Review: Devil Devitt vs. Paul Hudson (BGEast)

In the catalogue description for Devil Devitt vs. Paul Hudson, BGEast gives a lengthy explanation as to why they stopped selling Devil Devitt matches and why they've start again. I totally get why they did it but I'm glad to see acknowledgement of how far wrestling has come on LGBTQ+ acceptance. I know I definitely see it from the wrestlers I follow on Twitter.

Hey, buddy. Welcome back.

Review: Joey McCoy vs. Nick Flex (MBW)

Full disclosure: This video was sent to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

In case you didn't see, I posted my 200th story this week. I feel pretty proud of myself, I must say. It's something I've been working towards for a while and was a bit of a distraction on top of a heavier than ever work schedule. Now, I can hopefully get back to chilling and watching some wrestling. I have watched a couple of review-worthy things, including Joey McCoy vs. Nick Flex from MBW.

Silly, Joey, you can't move Nick's arm!

AMU 200: NEXTGEN

San Diego CA. 21 Years from Now.

“Wow. What’s it called, Jody?”

“World’s Finest.”

“It’s ... it’s amazing. Your fathers are going to love it. And it’s a real sculpture by Shaka?” I nod. Miles shakes his head, “The guy’s amazing and blowing up. His stuff is going to be worth a lot.”

“Already is. Just since I’ve been working for him, prices have gone up ten-fold, he moved into this fancy gallery and his work is global now. I got him at just the right time.”

Me (Jody).

Review: Cheetah Boy vs. El Fuego #698 (UCW)

If you were designing a match for me, putting one of the wrestlers in a loincloth is one way. Or having both guys wear masks works, too. But combining masks and loincloths is unique and I'm all-in. In this case, there's also an early threat and implied promise of one guy actually losing his mask. That's always a thrill because let's face it, it's the ultimate humiliation for any masked wrestler.

Cheetah Boy: "You like that? It's been in my ass!"

Review: Scrappy vs. Kenny Star (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This video was sent to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

Is there anything in this world as reliable AND exciting as Scrappy? Sure, there are reliable cars, appliances and people, but reliable usually means boring. And there are obviously a ton of exciting things. But nothing I can think of is BOTH the way young Scrappy is. The guy just keeps on delivering hit after hit. He's like the Beatles of the gay wrestling scene.

Scrappy's got the power ...
to thrill me every single time.

Review: DJ Beckham vs. Bobby Bryce (Wrestler4Hire)

This is a followup to my last Bobby Bryce review. The young ginger is a cutie pie who loves to play to the camera. He spends most of this match reaching out to the camera with his eyes and hands, begging for us to save him. Sorry, kid, but that ain't happening. Last time, Wrestler4Hire put him in a competitive match. Let's see how he does in a squashier affair.

Ginger ail.
