The Cast: Who's Who (August 2017)

Guys,

All the wrestlers are returning guys this month, including fan favorites Jae and Corey, rising star Ramsay, and surprise (probably) returnee Steve. Meanwhile, Brody and Javier got new roles on the sidelines, along with the only new guy, "Slim Jim" the announcer.

Review: Hunkbash 3 (BGEast)

In my "What's your custom match?" post, a commenter brought up Randy Wilkins, a one-and-done blond bodybuilder from BGEast who doesn't even have a profile on the website. I didn't remember him (by name) as his only appearance was against Hal Foster (again, who?) on Hunkbash 3.

While I didn't remember Randy or Hal by name, I remembered them by sight, especially Hal Foster, the hot Canadian beefcake. And I remembered Hunkbash 3. When I looked back through that compilation, I fondly recalled my lust for small-town muscleboy Chris Denver, who faced mega-heel Psycho Capone. The other two matches are no less than Mike Columbo against Cruze and Chris Bruce facing Dante Rosetti.

The incredible men of Hunkbash 3

Wow, that's eight great guys. Five are studs that I'd consider superstars or stars, plus three unknowns who are all big and beautiful. The matches are also really good. Even though this is a Hunkbash, none of the matches are 100% squashes. The "hunk" gets his turn on top and often makes the "basher" submit.

If you're interested at all, I would get it. It's on permanent sale for $29, but be warned. On BGEast's website, they have the following disclaimer:
SALE: Due to some video damage, video and DVD versions have some distortions that do not affect ability to view action.
I can't tell you how bad it is, because my version is rough, too. I owned this as a VHS then put it on DVD then ripped it onto my computer. So I can't be sure what's BGEast's fault and what's mine. However, my video is still watchable, so I imagine theirs is too.

Here are some images from each match ...

Review: Jaxton Wheeler vs. Z-Man (W4H)

Another match built off contrasting looks, this time from Wrestler4Hire. Jaxton Wheeler vs. Z-Man features two wrestlers that I have liked in the past, so I was interested to see this battle between a hairy porn guy and a smooth fitness model.

SPOILER ALERT ... both these guys have won and lost, but I am spoiling the outcome. There's no way I can avoid it without jumping through hoops. Stop reading now if you don't want to know who wins.

Hairy vs. smooth.

PSA: Jake Jenkins for $13.95 Until 9/5 (RHW)

Guys,

The Bruce Ballard sale back in March must have worked okay, because Rock Hard Wrestling is doing it again. This time, it's Jake Jenkins and it runs through 9/5.

Wake up Jake! You're on sale!
Jake vs. Ethan Andrews

I own 12 of Jake's 16 matches. The four I don't own are the tag matches. Maybe I'll rectify that with this sale. Since Jake looks pretty much done with wrestling, we all better stock up now. The only new material is likely to be whatever remains in BGEast's vault, if anything.

What's your custom match?

So I was asked a question by email the other day ...

Hello Alex:
After your post on Jaxton Wheeler vs. Ricky Vega, and our comments back and forth, I had a question for you.
If you were to commission a custom video, and cost was not an issue, who would be your 2 wrestlers (and of course, they don't have to be from the same company).
I don't think you've ever done a post before detailing your own idea/thoughts on a custom video - though I have a sneaking suspicion there would be a ton of power moves involved and the action would be 65/35 instead of a squash.

Keep up the great blog work!

What a great question.

I'm sure this is something we've all thought about. I certainly have. I kind of addressed this with my Battle of the Wrestling Stars series, which allowed me to pit cross-company studs against one another. In fact, Kid Karisma vs. Marco was my first thought to the above question and the anchor to my BOTWS 2 series.

Still one of my top fantasy match-ups.

Review: Dante vs. Justin Powers (MBW)

Muscleboy Wrestling has come out of the gate hard and fast. I've been pretty happy with my buys so far. However, it's daunting to figure out where to go next. Fortunately, a friendly commenter gave me some direction. In the comments of my Jake/Steve review, Chris posted his favorites from Muscleboy Wrestling, which included a lot of Justin Powers.

So I went in Justin's direction. How did Chris' suggestion work out? Well, I ended up buying all four Justin Powers videos, so what does that tell you?

Review: Marco vs. CJS (Thunders Arena)

Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Thunders Arena.

You know I love contrasts between wrestlers. Marco vs. CJS definitely fits that description. So many angles as Kasper returns to Thunders Arena as CJS to battle one of their biggest stars in Marco. Who the heck is Kasper? I had the same reaction, but does it matter? No, as it turns out, it doesn't. You'll be able to follow along without any kind of history.

Rival Pro Wrestling 1: Damien Dreamer vs. Kevin O'Shea

Rival Pro Wrestling. Television Taping. 1982.

El Presidente: The Show

Me. El Presidente.
The Boss. Don't forget it.

"Welcome, wrestling fans. This is Rival Pro Wrestling."

Loud crowd noises interrupt Jimmy, the new lead play-by-play man for the federation. He's lookin' good in a baby blue blazer over an open paisley shirt that shows off the center of his hot chest. As he continues his intro in front of the pastel backdrop, I gotta admit I'm feeling a little nervous. He probably is, too, but he's not showin' it.

Quick Hit: Jaxton Wheeler vs. Ricky Vega (W4H)

Last Wrestler4Hire video in this series of one-note Quick Hits is Jaxton Wheeler vs. Ricky Vega.

Porn Guy for Hire?

This is a strange video. It felt like the exact kind of thing that a wrestling blog should look at, because it's different. It wasn't really my taste, but it's unique. I'll leave it to you to guess if you'd like it or not.

Jaxton is open for business.

Quick Hit: Austin Cooper + Joey Angel vs. Guido Genatto (W4H)

Following up on yesterday's post is another Wrestler4Hire video where one idea stuck in my head ... Joey Angel + Austin Cooper vs. Guido Genatto.

These Boots Are Made For Jobbing ...

Yes, this is a one-on-two squash job featuring three sexy wrestlers, two of whom are the most popular in the business. It's a good video with a lot of brutish Guido domination. And you might notice no trigger warning as the hairy hunk actually manages to not use any gay slurs. That might have been the most shocking part of this video, if not for Joey's gear choice.

What really stood out to me is the same thing that stood out to Guido - Joey's bright, white, odd-fitting footwear. I'm pretty sure that they're the same pro boots as yesterday, but on Joey they look quite big and very bright, looking more like 60's go-go boots than wrestling boots.

The hairy heel fixates on them right away and so do I. Austin Cooper is part of the match from an action standpoint, but not as much from a storyline perspective. That's the problem with being perfect, there's nothing for Guido to make fun of. Doesn't save him from a vicious beating, but it does save him from ridicule.

Guido thinks Joey's a wonder, wonder woman
in those boots.

Quick Hit: Mark Muscle vs. Alex Oliver (W4H)

So not all videos inspire me to write about them. Not because they're bad, but more because I don't have a hook. It's like sometimes I just don't have a full review in me for them.

Starting today, I am going to do shorter posts on three Wrestler4Hire videos. I generally check out a lot of the videos, but obviously only a few end up earning full reviews. In these three videos, each one had something about it that was interesting, but they're very simple in premise and I didn't have much to say.

Born to be Bane ...

First up is Mark Muscle vs. Alex Oliver in a superhero squash. Alex is a jobber Superman and Mark Muscle is a big, brutal villain in black. As I looked at Mark in black, flexing those massive muscles, all I could think was "fuck, that's Bane." In his original appearance, the man who broke Batman's back is styled like a wrestler, so he naturally fits in the ring.

Big "Bane" bends the hero to his will

Review: Calvin Haynes vs. Nino Leone (BGEast)

Not only did I almost not review Calvin Haynes vs. Nino Leone from BGEast, I almost didn't watch it. It's basically the same story as MBW's match Jake Zane vs. Steve Tanner, which I reviewed here. Obviously both feature the same hairy muscle hunk, but in both he arrogantly dominates then gets his humiliating comeuppance from a smaller opponent. I wasn't sure if there was really anything to say about this. It's like Calvin has his thing, which is letting smaller guys manhandle him.

However, after watching it, there are some differences and I have a preference. So I figured that was worth a post.

Nino takes control of big Calvin.

Review: Bart vs. Scrappy (Thunders Arena)

I'm heading back to Vegas, at least from a reviewing standpoint. There's a Thunders Arena video I didn't cover that I want to. Scrappy vs. Bart involves my current favorite wrestler and a Thunders rookie I was very intrigued to see. It is definitely deserving of some commentary, so I made sure I circled back it now.

Scrappy: "No, no, no. I hate this!"
Bart: "You ain't stopping this. There's nothing you can do."

Review: Chris Cannon vs. Jake Zane (Muscleboy Wrestling)

I'm sure there are great Muscleboy Wrestling videos I haven't seen. I was planning on looking for another video with newbies, but Chris Cannon made me change plans. I enjoyed him a lot in his debut, so I decided to check out his return pretty much immediately.

Did I make the right call? Was Chris Cannon vs. Jake Zane worth it?

Jake: "Argh! My back!"
Cannon: "What's wrong with your back?"

Review: Ronnie Pearl x 2 (Wrestler4Hire)

I've really warmed up to the idea of a streaming membership. I only do it at Wrestler4Hire, because it's the only one I've seen that has great value. You get a lot of variety for a decent amount of money. And one of the benefits is that you see guys and matches that you'd likely never buy. And every so often, you find a gem, like Ronnie Pearl.

Hey, Ronnie. Nice to meet you.

Marco shows off the new stud.

The Cave: The Adventures of SuperStar 15

The Gym

"Oh yeah, Corey, that's it. Slower, slower. Yeah, make it hurt. Why're you stopping?"

"I just need a sec to adjust, Jae. Okay. UNH! UNH! UUNNNNHHHH!"

Corey finishes his last three squats then I help him rack the bar. He kicks out his legs and stretches, walking off a great set and new personal best. I'm smiling, proud of helping the 19-year old stud to reach a new level in his training. His ass and legs look great, but with my help, they're getting better than ever. His compression pants can't hide the gains he's already making.
