Mindsweeper Monday: TCCW 21

TCCW are wrestling stories from two different Yahoo! groups from the early 2000's. These entries were part of a much larger universe led by other writers. There are references to characters, events and matches that will not be posted here. Titles change hands, friendships and alliances form and dissolve, all without you ever seeing it. Imagine you are watching an Indy fed sporadically.

Note: You can find ALL (?) the stories by all authors in order in their original versions HERE - thanks for the link, Mangler!

Jacoby (LW) versus Xander (LW)

Jacoby had finally avenged his loss to Chen. He felt a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. Unfortunately, he couldn't erase the loss he incurred because of disqualification to Gerritt. But Jacoby decided the best thing to do was build his own record.

Jacoby had thought Chen's easy defeat of Kevin would guarantee Chen a title shot, thereby letting Jacoby get first crack at Chen because of their friendship. However, Chen's overall record was an okay 2-1 and he was so focused on his martial arts that he was not pushing to fight Kevin.

Other lightweights had a better claim to the title than either Chen or Jacoby. So, Jacoby realized he had to get himself into contention the old-fashioned way. He thought about challenging tough competitors like Samuel or Marcus but knew the shroud of Gerritt still hung over him. Instead decided to pad his stats, redeem his reputation and get some more experience.

Jacoby saw the guy he was looking for running on the treadmill. Jacoby grabbed the empty one beside him and started the program. After a minute, Jacoby started a conversation.

After five minutes, Xander was winding down. Jacoby finally let the chat drift to wrestling. Xander was on a private team but was not yet a star. He was only 18 and in his first year of college. Jacoby learned that while he thought TCCW would be fun, he was too shy to ask older, more experienced guys for a match. And no one challenged him, of course. No one even knew him.

Jacoby nodded and offered Xander a match any time. Xander smiled. Jacoby continued to schmooze the young man and the match was set. Jacoby told Xander to challenge him officially and he would gladly accept.

THIS NEXT CONTEST IS A LIGHTWEIGHT MATCH, ONE FALL WITH A THIRTY-MINUTE TIME LIMIT. INTRODUCING FIRST, THE CHALLENGER, MAKING HIS TCCW DEBUT, WEARING THE BLACK SINGLET AND WEIGHING IN AT 142 POUNDS, LET'S ALL WELCOME XANDER!

Xander came out from the back to polite applause and nervously looked around. He trotted up to the ring, climbing in. Xander was 5'7" and looked his age. He had seen a number of matches but being in the ring was much different.

Xander was fresh-faced with brown spiky hair. His maturing body was taut and trim. He had a group of friends in the crowd and he waved at them while the announcer introduced Jacoby.

AND HIS OPPONENT, WEARING THE WHITE TRUNKS, WEIGHING IN AT 155 POUNDS, HERE IS JACOBY!

The crowd cheered Jacoby loudly. His match with Gerritt was a barn-burner and most did not know about the fiasco that had taken place. As well, he had defeated Chen soundly in their rematch.

Jacoby was wearing white trunks and white boots. He was tanned and hard-bodied. He had been working out hard, making sure to stay at 155 pounds on his 5'11" frame, the cut-off for lightweights. At 18, Jacoby was growing into his shoulders, his chest strong and torso narrow. Jacoby had a killer smile.

He waved to the admiring crowd and walked right up to Xander. He shook his hand and said, "Relax, it's just like sparring."

Xander smiled and nodded, glad to have such a nice opponent. The ref did his check. Jacoby noticed that his check was much more thorough than Xander's. Jacoby grin and beared it, knowing that was the price he had to pay for being labeled a cheat.

The bell sounded and Xander and Jacoby moved in together.

Xander and Jacoby moved together. Xander was tentative while Jacoby was confident. The wrestlers locked up in a collar-and-elbow tie-up. Jacoby used his superior height, weight and strength to power Xander into the corner.

The ref stepped in immediately and ordered Jacoby off. Jacoby released Xander right away. Xander came out and prepared for another lock-up. This time, Xander lowered himself and pushed quickly to the corner. Jacoby felt himself drive into the corner.

Xander made a clean break and backed off. Xander waited in the center of the ring, hands on knees and crouched for action. Jacoby came out of the corner. He bent down to meet Xander. They slapped at each other's hands, feeling each other out. Jacoby moved in and Xander went low. Xander grabbed Jacoby around the right leg and lifted.

Jacoby was toppled onto his back. Xander slid over Jacoby's torso and locked on a headlock. Xander sat at Jacoby's head and squeezed hard. Xander tightened his grip, crushing Jacoby's head between his bicep and forearm.

Jacoby reached around Xander and clutched Xander around his lean torso. Jacoby rolled over, rolling Xander into a pin. The ref dropped down and counted to one before Xander could roll himself back. Jacoby repeated the pin, forcing Xander to release the headlock in order to break the pin.

Jacoby scrambled to his feet. When he turned to face Xander, the novice charged again, driving his shoulder into Jacoby's midsection. Xander kept driving and lifted slightly. Jacoby stumbled and Xander planted Jacoby onto the mat hard. Xander went back to the headlock.

Jacoby rolled to his side and got to his hands and knees. He fought hard to focus in the tight grip. Jacoby drove two hard forearms into Xander's back. The headlock loosened for only a moment before Xander cinched it in tight again. The 18-year old was strong and tough, Jacoby was quickly discovering.

Jacoby drove up, and both wrestlers were on their feet, Xander still holding on tight. Jacoby lifted Xander up. Xander, instead of waiting for the inevitable drop, kicked his feet, bringing himself down! Xander came down and rolled, landing atop Jacoby, all the while maintaining his steel grip on the bigger wrestler's head.

Jacoby slapped the mat in frustration. His head was aching and this rookie just would not let go! Jacoby fought to think of a strategy ... he wasn't about to lose to a headlock applied by a 18-year old novice!

Xander was maintaining the headlock but he knew it wouldn't be enough. This time, when Jacoby forced Xander up, Xander didn't resist. When they reached their feet, Xander ran forward into the corner. He drove Jacoby's head into the middle turnbuckle, sending him back onto the mat.

Jacoby sprawled on his back and shook out the cobwebs as Xander jumped onto the ropes. Xander leapt off to splash Jacoby. The more experienced Jacoby rolled out of the way, letting Xander slam himself down. The crowd gasped as Xander planted himself hard onto the mat.

Jacoby ignored the throbbing in his head and immediately went to work. Despite Xander's inexperience, his amateur background was good enough to take control. Jacoby decided to show Xander a few moves he wouldn't have seen on his wrestling team.

Jacoby stomped hard onto Xander's back, planting his boots right into the middle of his lower back. Jacoby measured Xander up and jumped into the air. With elbow positioned, he drove down, driving deep into Xander's exposed and softened back. He repeated the elbow drop twice more and then delivered another five stomps.

Xander cried out as Jacoby softened him up. Jacoby pulled Xander to his feet and whipped him hard into the corner. Xander's back landed hard and he fell to his knees. Jacoby came charging in and drove his foot up into Xander's abs. Xander went flying backwards, landing two feet back, sitting in the corner.

Jacoby ran to the opposite corner and ran forward. He leapt in the air and came down hard onto Xander's chest. Jacoby's butt squashed Xander onto the lower turnbuckle! Jacoby rode Xander hard, using the Bronco Buster to soften the rookie up fast.

Jacoby hopped off and grabbed Xander by the hair. He pulled out the neophyte and tossed him face down onto the mat. Jacoby sat on Xander's back. As he straddled Xander, he could not help flexing for the crowd. Jacoby bounced his small but hard pecs.

Jacoby reached forward and pulled Xander up into a camel clutch. Xander felt his back forced up, compressed harshly by Jacoby's finisher. When Jacoby had Xander locked in tight, he wrapped his arms around Xander's neck and head, adding the sleeper to the camel clutch that was becoming his trademark.

Jacoby was confident - the move had defeated Gerritt, the very tough heavyweight, and Chen, a top lightweight. Xander, by comparison, was nothing.

True to Jacoby's belief, Xander quickly submitted, before the sleeper had even been fully applied. Jacoby was disappointed but hearing Xander's submission was enough. Jacoby kept the big picture in mind and let Xander down immediately after he gave up.

Jacoby stood over the defeated novice, watching Xander bringing his hand to his back. Jacoby smiled as the ref raised his hand. Jacoby stepped over Xander and waited for the novice to rise.

When Xander stood, his friends cheered. Xander waved shyly. He approached Jacoby and extended his hand. Jacoby shook hands with the rookie. Xander said, "Thanks for the match."

Jacoby nodded and said, "You've got some good moves. Keep practicing and wrestling matches and you'll be great."

Xander smiled through the pain. He was disappointed that he had been defeated in only a few minutes but he also was glad to have been in the ring. Xander vowed to challenge other wrestlers and Jacoby set out to meet his next novice.

THE END
