Mindsweeper Monday: TCCW 35

TCCW are wrestling stories from two different Yahoo! groups from the early 2000's. These entries were part of a much larger universe led by other writers. There are references to characters, events and matches that will not be posted here. Titles change hands, friendships and alliances form and dissolve, all without you ever seeing it. Imagine you are watching an Indy fed sporadically.

Note: You can find ALL (?) the stories by all authors in order in their original versions HERE - thanks for the link, Mangler!

Carl/Ari versus Carter/Rick

After their debut last week, Carter and Rick had had a run-in with Carl and Ari. The two thugs had confronted the pair after their hard fought and extremely dirty match with Cort and Ron. Carter and Rick were in a foul mood, disgusted with the behavior of their opponents. Carl and Ari had pushed them the wrong way and ended up on the wrong end of DDT's.

The next day, the two studs had apologized to the thugs. Rick offered to let them DDT them as payback. Pushed by HB and Kane, Carl and Ari grudgingly accepted the apology, without issuing the DDT's. The men agreed to wrestle on Saturday anyway since both wanted more action.

In the ensuing week, HB and Kane met up with Carter and Rick several times. They had been impressed, as had everyone else, with the model-studs' skills. HB did most of the talking since Kane barely spoke. HB probed the new team about their background. The more he heard, the more he liked them.

Carter explained that his father was an officer in the Army. They moved around a lot, this town was just another stop on the route. His father took fighting and strength seriously. Rick had moved in with his Uncle and Aunt, Carter's parents, at age ten. The reasons were sketchy, but HB understood it was tragic. It made Rick a serious man, although he had a good sense of humor, there was always something sad in his eyes.

The hunks reacted badly to being called "faggots." For them, it was a pejorative term that meant wimp, coward and sissy. On the Army base, there were tons of fit, good looking men, but no one wanted to be known as a faggot. That carried over for the studs. They knew they had overreacted with Carl and Ari, but after they had been surprised by Cort and Ron's dirty tactics, their nerves were fried.

The cousins loved wrestling, especially the pro-style of TCCW. HB and Kane learned that the studs were incredibly tough and skilled in fighting. The cousins liked the rules and limitations of TCCW-style wrestling. They liked having to keep themselves in check.

HB probed on their opinions on NHB. Carter explained, "We don't mind it, in fact Rick likes it. But if we sign up for a wrestling match, we expect a wrestling match. That was the problem in the last match. Those guys had no respect for the rules. They were just punks. They cheated from the opening bell."

HB asked, "So if you guys were challenged to an NHB match, you'd accept? Or you might challenge a team to one?"

Carter and Rick nodded. Rick said in his raspy 'Dirty Harry' voice, "Sure. Even in NHB, there are standards, we are not looking for 100% anything goes. We would probably kill or get killed in that scenario. But NHB, as we get it happens here, is cool. But both teams know the ground rules going in; that is when we will do it. We really want to face some honest teams and enjoy some fair fights. Hope Carl and Ari understood that. They seemed to."

HB smiled. There was still hope for a demolition of Corwin and Drew. The tag champs were always afraid of looking like wimps. HB knew that if challenged, they would accept out of pride. They had proven that with the handicap title match. They had been lucky to escape that blunder.

When HB and Kane ran into Carl and Ari, they made sure to subtly convince the thugs to cheat a lot. HB and Kane were clever. Carl and Ari were easily duped. To an outside observer, HB was advocating a fair match, but he did it in such a way as to challenge the thugs manhood. Carl and Ari fell for it perfectly.

Despite what Carter and Rick wanted, HB and Kane wanted to test the "pretty boys" in a tougher match. Carl and Ari were great as a ruthless pair, despite their recent loss. Plus, no one could ever suggest HB and Kane of doing anything but encourage a fair fight.

HB and Kane could not wait to see their new friends in another ruthless, dirty match. They hoped Carter, Rick, Carl and Ari hurt each other a lot.

THIS IS A TAG TEAM MATCH, ONE FALL, WITH A THIRTY-MINUTE TIME LIMIT.

INTRODUCING FIRST, THE CHALLENGERS, WEIGHING IN AT 351 POUNDS, HERE ARE CARTER IN THE BEIGE TRUNKS AND RICK IN THE WHITE TRUNKS.

Carter and Rick came out of the back and stopped in front of the curtain, just as they had the week before. When the two studs appeared, the crowd went crazy! Girls started whistling as they walked forward. The studs were smirking, their dimples growing as they smiled.

The reaction was even more intense than the week before as everyone had discovered the studs were cousins. Rick had met up with a couple of girls from the crowd during the week. That gave every girl in the arena hope.

Once again, a wide variety of tag wrestlers were watching. The match against Cort and Ron had proven to be a mismatch, just not as people had thought. Cort and Ron had claimed they could have pinned Carter early in the match but decided not to. They agreed that was a mistake but badmouthed the good-looking studs at every opportunity when Carter and Rick were not around. Everyone knew it was just sour grapes.

Rick was the older of the two cousins, but was shorter at 5'10". He was 24, with a ripped body. He wore the briefest of white trunks - actually a speedo. The lace hung out the front. He had white wrestling boots that came halfway up his calf.

Carter was 6'1" tall and wore beige trunks, the same brief proportions as Rick's. He had beige mid-calf boots on. His body was equally ripped, his leaner muscles were rock hard. The studs had a quiet confidence; they looked forward to a fair and honest match.

INTRODUCING NEXT, WEIGHING IN AT A COMBINED WEIGHT OF 355 POUNDS, WEARING THE BLACK TRUNKS, HERE ARE CARL AND ARI.

Carl and Ari looked tough and they were tough. They emerged to a chorus of boos but didn't care. They wore black jeans and black tank tops. Carl was older, at 21, but Ari was bigger. Ari was 19-years old, but he already had tattoos on his thick bicep. Both punks worked hard to be intimidating.

Despite what HB and Kane seemingly wanted, Carl and Ari had no intention of letting the pretty boys off the hook after the DDT. Carl and Ari lived by the motto that you got hit, you hit back ten times harder. They had a few things in store for the pretty boys.

Carl and Ari entered the ring. They stripped off their tank tops, revealing their hard muscled torsos. Both punks were thick and stocky, with heavy chest and strong stomachs. They undid the chains from their pants and draped them over the top turnbuckle.

Carl and Ari slid off their baggy black jeans and faced Carter and Rick in black square cut trunks. They stared hard, but not menacingly. They didn't want to give any clue of what was to come. They had seen Rick and Carter in action and knew that the studs were capable. When Carl and Ari struck, it would be hard, fast and a surprise.

Rick started the match against Carl. The two wrestlers circled. Carl charged and Rick easily evaded the move. The young stud grabbed Carl's arm and locked on an arm bar. He wrenched Carl's arm hard, twisting it as Carl wailed. Rick lifted his right foot and planted it deep into Carl's stomach. Carl gasped for breath as his arm continued to be tortured.

Rick pulled Carl to the ropes. Rick climbed to the second rope and leapt off, landing a big forearm to Carl's beefy shoulder. The thug was immediately locked up again, his arm back in Rick's tight grip.

Rick dragged Carl over to Carter. He tagged in his partner and Carter hopped to the top rope like a cat. The tall, thin stud leapt off and slammed down hard onto Carl's arm as Rick held Carl helpless.

Carter continued the arm bar torture. He pulled Carl to the mat with an arm drag takedown. Carl crashed down hard as Carter knelt behind him, controlling his weakening appendage. Carl was getting pissed. He reached back and found Carter's handsome face. He raked across Carter's eyes, temporarily blinding him!

Carl pulled his arm free and leapt to his feet. He drew his foot back and leveled a huge boot into Carter's chest! Carter's round hard pecs withstood the blow but the momentum carried him into Carl and Ari's corner. Carter, blinded and winded, struggled up.Across the ring, Rick was surprised. Carl and Ari had agreed to a fair match. An eye rake hardly seemed fair. Carl lifted Carter to his feet and thrust him into the corner hard. Carter's back crashed in and Carl charged. Carter tried to move out of the way of the splash, but Ari grabbed his neck and held him firm!

Before the ref could even utter a word, Carl splashed Carter hard. Carl tagged in Ari. He reached forward and eye-raked Carter again! Rick was getting upset now. Ari pummeled Carter while Carl choked him out from behind. The ref counted but otherwise did nothing. The count passed five long ago, but the double team continued.

The punishment was eerily similar to Cort and Ron, but Carl and Ari were much stronger and their blows were much more devastating. Rick entered the ring. The ref saw and blocked his path. Rick said, "Do your job and I won't have to come in again."

The ref was shaken by Rick's intimidating tone. He turned back to the action and ordered Carl to stop choking Carter. Carl did and Ari backed off. Ari argued with the ref and backed out of the corner. The ref got into it with Ari. Meanwhile Carl took the chain from the ringpost and quietly wrapped the end of it around his hand. With one swift move, he rabbit punched Carter! Carter's head immediately fell forward; the stud was out of it.

Rick charged, hammering Ari and decking Carl. The ref grabbed him but Rick tossed him off. Rick said, "The asshole just used a chain on my partner. DQ me if you want, but no way am I leaving this ring."

The ref looked at Carl, who was rising on the outside. He saw the chain on the floor. He considered ringing the bell and ending the match but had no proof of anything. No one in the crowd had noticed. It was Rick's word against Carl's.

The match would continue.

The crowd was watching intently now, as they followed the action in the ring. Rick was assisting a dazed, Carter. Rick pulled Carter up. He slapped Carter who reacted by pushing him off. Carter said, "I'm okay, I'm okay! What the hell happened?"

Rick said, "Bastards used a chain."

Carter moaned as he felt the lump on the back of his head. From behind, Ari attacked Rick. He lifted the unsuspecting stud and forced him into a DDT. Ari dropped down and laid Rick out. Rick stirred, but Ari dropped an elbow to the back of his head. Ari picked him up and literally threw him across the ring. Rick rolled under the bottom rope. Ari then dragged a still-dazed Carter over to Rick. Ari moved Carter's hand and tagged in Rick. The ref acknowledged the tag and Ari reached through and pulled Rick in.

Ari smiled as he saw Carl back on the ring apron. They had put Carter's lights out, now it was Rick's turn. The pretty boys weren't so tough after all.

Rick shook off the DDT and elbow fairly quickly. He drove his hand forward and deep into Ari's throat. Ari gasped for air. Carl charged in, but Rick caught him flush with a kick to the gut. Carl bent over and Rick moved in for a DDT. Before he could do anything, Ari was behind him. Ari seized Rick over the throat and locked in a reverse DDT. He delivered it with devastating accuracy and nearly put Rick's lights out.

Carl and Ari stomped on Rick hard. Carter was helpless on the opposite ring apron, not sure where he was or what was happening. He was quickly coming back but it would be too late for Rick if Carl and Ari had anything to say about it!

Carl and Ari dragged Rick up and double whipped him into the corner. The ref finally got Carl out of the ring. Carl smirked. He wanted to be out of the ring. Ari lifted Rick's arms over the top rope. Carl grabbed them from behind. Carl moved behind the ringpost and straddled the post. He hung back, most of his 180 pounds supported by Rick's arms, which were pulled backwards. The ref told Carl to release the grip, but Ari used the debate to mercilessly pound Rick's left shoulder!

Rick moaned in pain as his left arm was tortured by the two thugs. Ari dug his fingers into the muscle like claws.

Rick fought through the pain. He lifted his foot and drove a weak knee into Ari. Ari easily shrugged it off. In retaliation, Ari dug harder. The pain strengthened Rick's resolve. He lifted his knee and drove it into Ari's gut again. Ari backed off. Rick immediately planted his feet on the bottom turnbuckle. He drove forward! He grunted in agony as his shoulders bore the brunt but he managed to accomplish his goal.

Rick drove forward and pulled Carl up. Carl, who had been hanging behind the ringpost, had no leverage to stop the move in time. He came flying up and crashed into the ringpost. Carl released Rick's wrists and plummeted to the matted floor below.

Rick collapsed to the mat and crawled towards his corner. He looked up and saw Carter still lying on the apron. He cursed. The disgusting chain shot had still taken him out. Rick realized the two-on-one would continue. He considered forfeiting the match, realizing that Carl and Ari were out for one thing, to hurt him and Carter.

But then Rick decided, no, he would never submit to these thugs. Never.

The four wrestlers were all stretched out, looking worse for wear. They could hear the chants and boos of the crowd. But Rick and Carter were much worse for wear. Carl and Ari had been put down by one move, Carter and Rick had been put down by constant double teaming and cheating.

Rick's stamina impressed everyone as he stood and faced Ari again. Ari was fully recovered from the knee. He looked at Rick confidently. Ari knew that the few minutes in the corner must have softened up the pretty boy stud.

Ari charged and Rick locked up with him. Ari used his superior size to dominate Rick. Rick felt pain in his left shoulder, weakening his position. But Rick was experienced. He managed to maneuver Ari into a headlock with his superior talent.

Rick cranked the headlock hard with his right arm. Ari grunted. Rick used Ari's helpless ness to flip him over. Rick wanted to keep Ari down, on the mat, in the center of the ring. Ari pushed on Rick's hard as a rock chest and tried to break free but could not.

Ari squinted through the pain and saw his target. He cocked his hand back and drove it forward, hammering a fist into Rick's package! Rick grunted but did not release the headlock. He had suspected that Ari would either try an eye rake or a low blow. He was prepared and had blacked the low blow by twisting his thigh forward. Ari could not see what he had hit but he knew it was solid muscle.

Ari slapped the mat in frustration. Rick forced him up to his knees. Ari moaned in the headlock. Rick had used the time to work out his strategy. He had decided on the combination that would put Ari out. All he had to do was execute it.

WHUMP! Rick felt the blow but never sensed it or saw it. Carl had slipped into the ring while the ref was checking if Ari wanted to submit. With him distracted, Carl was able to march right up to Rick on his knees, holding Ari down. Carl raised his boot and drove it right into Rick's left shoulder!

The kick was massive and even if Rick's shoulder had not been previously attacked, he would have been in pain. As it was, the sensation was excruciating.

Rick rolled sideways, the ref pushed Carl out. Ari immediately went to work. Ari dropped a series of knees to Rick's left shoulder. He pounded on the left bicep and tricep, leveling his entire 175-pounds behind each blow. His considerable power sent shockwaves through Rick. Ari dragged Rick to his feet by his left arm. He tightened an arm bar and forced Rick to the corner. Carl and Ari double-teamed Rick without end. Rick's arm was stomped, punched, kicked, pulled and stretched without mercy for minutes. Rick moaned to complete agony as the thugs worked him over ten times worse than they had done to Jack.

Rick's arm was useless. It hung limply over the top rope. Ari set up their finisher. Ari lifted Rick up. He maintained the hammerlock and dropped Rick down, bodyslamming him on his arm. He lifted Rick up and repeated the move. With Rick writhing on the mat, his muscular tanned body and white speedo drenched in sweat, Ari cruelly dragged him up by his ruined arm. Ari pushed his victim back into the corner where Carl positioned him again.

Rick's arm was hanging over the turnbuckle, being pounded and stretched by Ari on the outside and Carl on the inside. The thugs were a match for any tag team. To face them in a two-on-one situation was crazy!

Rick was in serious agony. His left arm felt like it was useless. He and Carter had underestimated the thugs, they had been too complacent in their abilities. They should have planned for this illegal NHB double-teaming. Now, as Rick fought to concentrate through tremendous pain, he realized that these punks only wanted to hurt him.

And, at the moment, he felt like he could do very little to stop them.

Carl and Ari had been in the ring both working on Rick. The thugs were beaten on him hard.

Ari held Rick's left arm over the turnbuckle. As Carl pounded on his abs, reducing the hard muscles to mush, Ari grabbed the chain they brought to ringside. Like Carl had done to Carter, he planned to use it to finish off the pretty boy. He signaled Carl, who turned the ref by going after Carter. Ari pounded on Rick's shoulder with his chain wrapped hand. Rick screamed out, bringing Carter into the ring. He had never heard Rick scream in his life.

No one had seen the first chain shot but some of the crowd saw this one. Ari knew people were watching but didn't care. He smirked coldly as he landed three fists to Rick's already damaged shoulder.

Carter leapt over the top rope and planted his feet into Carl's chest. Carl was caught off-guard. Rick and Carter had been impassive during most double teaming. Carl assumed it would be the same this time.

Carter charged the corner and slammed into Ari! He drove the thug off the ring apron and onto the floor below. Ari dropped the chain and tumbled back, slamming hard into the metal barrier that surrounded the ring.

The ref tried to push Carter from the ring but he ignored him. Carter pulled Rick from the corner and carried him across the ring. When they reached their own corner, Carter hopped out of the ring and tagged Rick. The ref did not acknowledge the tag but Carter didn't care. Rick tumbled out and Carter entered.

Carter's attitude was "Disqualify me, see if I care. You let those bastards use a chain on me and now on my cousin." The ref stammered that he hadn't seen any chain either time but this time, the crowd screamed that it was true this time. Carter looked at him with hard but honest eyes. The ref signaled the tag and let the match continue.

The thugs had taken this to another level. Carter steeled himself. He could also fight this way. It was time Carl and Ari learned some new tricks. Carter raced over. He saw Carl standing in the corner. Carl waved him forward. Carter kept his face impassive but smiled inside. Carl tagged Ari back in. Now Carl and Ari were baiting him into enemy camp, but Carter didn't care. Carter marched in. Ari struck with a kick but Carter caught the foot. He pulled and dropped at the same time, pulling Ari over him and wrenching his knee hard.

In one fluid move, as Ari lay holding his knee, Carter pun and thrust two hands out. He caught Carl flush in the crotch. Carter knew Carl would enter illegally. He was right and was rewarded with a blow that sent Carl to mat and out of the ring.

Ari was up and so was Carter. Carter smiled and said, "Guess it's one-on-one for minute. Nervous?"

Ari was not afraid of anyone. He charged the arrogant pretty boy. Carter was more than ready. He ducked Ari and grabbed him behind the waist. Carter lifted and drove Ari's head into the mat with a belly-to-back suplex. Ari clutched the back of his head and Carter towered over him. Carter measured him up and dropped down, driving his powerful fist into the back of Ari's head.

Carter said, "I won't be the only one with a lump there tomorrow, thug." Carter lifted Ari up and cinched in a DDT. He drove the stunned thug into the mat, laying him out. Across the ring, Carl started through the ropes, but the ref finally did his job. He blocked the way, as Carter straddled Ari's back and drove his forearm into the back of Ari's head, practically knocking him unconscious.

This match was brutal. Carter looked to Rick. Rick nodded. He could help. He could help end this match.

The crowd was loud and boisterous. Some were appalled at what had happened but most had only seen a lot of illegal double-teaming and that was commonplace these days in TCCW. They were cheering and booing, all in support of their heroes, Carter and Rick.

Carter tagged Rick back in. Rick hopped to the top rope. Carter lifted Ari across his chest. He dropped Ari in a backbreaker over his knee. He stretched Ari out as Rick leapt down, dropping a double axe handle onto Ari's stretched stomach. Ari convulsed but Carter held him stretched. Rick hammered fists into his midsection with his good arm. The ref reached five and Carter pushed Ari from his knee.

Rick stomped hard onto Ari's back. He knew the 19-year old thug was ready to be pinned. With his arm aching, he knew they better take advantage. Rick tagged Carter back in and quickly turned Ari over into a one-legged Boston Crab. He tried for two, but lost his grip with his bum arm. Carter leapt off the top rope and did a leg drop onto the back of Ari's neck! The punk flopped free as Rick released him.

Carl charged into the ring. Rick turned to meet him, but Carl caught him flush in the face with a forearm, sending him to the mat. Carter charged forward and he and Carl went toe-to-toe. They exchanged hard forearms, each pounding the other while not giving an inch. Rick staggered to his hands and knees as he heard the bell sound.DING! DING! DING!Carl and Carter stopped and turned. The ref was turning back into the ring. He walked up to Rick who was leaning heavily on the ropes and lifted his good arm. Carter walked over and hugged Rick. Carl charged the two, not understanding why they had won and he was pissed.

Carl slammed into Carter, sending him through the top and middle rope to the floor below. Rick kicked Carl in the gut and hammered him back with a hard forearm. Rick slid through the ropes before Carl could charge again.

The ref grabbed the mic and made an announcement. The audience knew why the match had ended, even if the participants did not. The ref spoke, "The winners are Carter and Rick! Ari, as the legal man, had his arm raised three times. On three consecutive times, it dropped. He was counted as out. This match is over."

The ref tossed the mic out to the ring apron. Carl had not revived Ari yet so he knew it was true, but he did not accept the decision. Carl charged the ropes, "We want you in the ring again! We DEMAND a rematch!"

Carter and Rick came back to the apron. Rick grabbed the mic in his good hand.

As the challenge was issued, the crowd gasped. Everyone wanted to see what the new hunks would say.

Carter and Rick came back to the apron. Rick grabbed the mic in his good hand, "You want a rematch? Well, tough shit, punk, you aren't going to get one. We joined this league to wrestle. You want this NHB shit, find yourselves another pair of whipping boys." Rick turned to the audience. He said, "And that goes for the rest of you tag teams watching. If you just want to brawl then don't even bother challenging us. From now on, we are looking for wrestling matches. No talent thugs like these idiots and the ones we beat last week can go to the parking lot and fight it out. You have no business being in a ring in an organized league."

Carter and Rick stormed down the aisle to the applause of the crowd and leaving a shocked and speechless Carl in the ring.

*****

Earlier that same night, Corwin and Drew had been squashed by Keith and Rich in a non-title match. In frustration, Corwin revealed his true feelings about Jessie and the two agreed to a one-on-one contest.Kane overheard the entire conversation. HB and Kane began plotting their next move ...

*****

Rick sat in the locker room, alone except for Carter. Rick was nursing his arm with ice and Carter had treated his busted lip. He was pacing, angry and frustrated. HB and Kane came up to the pair. They had scoped out the locker room and knew they were alone.

Carter saw them and smiled. "Hey guys, how's it going?"

HB replied, "Good. Nice speech tonight."

Rick stared at them, his eyes burning with anger, not at them but at the situation. Carter said, "Thanks. You two are the only team that has even spoken to us since we joined TCCW." HB and Kane both showed their shock. Carter continued, "We signed up to wrestle. We don't mind the occasional brawl, but this is stupid. Those thugs didn't even try to wrestle. It was crap from the opening bell. Same shit as last week. You guys are our friends. Tell us the inside story. Doesn't anyone wrestle?"

HB said, "Why do you care? You guys are great at NHB! You guys won both matches."

Rick spoke in his usual slow pace, "It has nothing to do with our ability. Sure, we can fight the style of our opponent. But neither of us want to do this every week. If we wrestle NHB, we want to do it by mutual agreement. We've had some awesome NHB matches, but we knew ahead of time. Not the same as getting surprised in the ring."

HB didn't want to lose his new friends. After the last comment, he thought he could convince them to go NHB with Corwin and Drew. The tag champs would go for it if challenged. They were always worried about looking like wimps. HB and Kane gave Carter and Rick the lowdown on the league from a very self-serving perspective.

*****

Later, Jessie and Jack saw Carter and Rick sitting alone in the locker room. They came up and introduced themselves. Jack explained that Carl and Ari had tortured his arm, too and put him out for a month! The four wrestlers shook hands and Carter said, "We've actually heard about you two."

Jessie rolled his eyes, "Look, we know what everyone says. I hope you guys can make up your minds about people."

Rick raised one eyebrow as Carter said, "What do you mean? We heard good things about you two." Jessie was surprised and told them so. Carter shrugged. He said, "You may have noticed that our first two matches have been moronic brawls. HB and Kane told us if we wanted a fair fight with a solid team, to try you guys, Jeff and Sean or Elton and Patrick. But they mentioned you guys first. They have a lot of respect for you two."

Jessie and Jack were floored. HB and Kane had respect for them? They asked twice if that was true. Carter and Rick assured them it was. After being insulted by Corwin and Drew, Jessie and Jack were excited to hear a top team like HB and Kane had praised them.Jack said, "Well, my arm has nearly healed and I'm working it back in. We should be ready in a couple of weeks. I bet Jeff and Sean would wrestle you next week, if you want."

Carter said, "Now you understand that we want a wrestling match. By the book, fair and square. No cheap shots. Five-count respected. I could go on but do you know what we mean?"

Jack nodded enthusiastically. Jessie responded for them both, "We get it. That's what we want, too. I have to tell you guys, you are way better than us. We don't have the best record."

Carter said, "Jessie, there is no shame in losing. Rick and I have lost our fair share. We were the champs of our last league but we still lost matches, sometimes to teams with bad records. Wrestling is a combination of so many elements, skill, planning, power and luck. The team that beats you might only be better than you on that day. The next day, you might turn around and beat them. But even if you lose every match, there can be no shame in a hard fought battle. Afterwards, no matter who wins, we just want to be able to shake your hand, pat you on the back and be able to look at ourselves in the mirror."

Jessie and Jack had big smiles on their faces and nodded their approval the entire time. Carter said, "So, any other teams you would recommend?"

Jessie said, "Well, avoid Trace and Kale, they are huge brawlers. Avoid Jed and Luke, and avoid Tyson and Brett. All those guys are in factions that like putting the hurt on people. Fair doesn't ever occur to them."

Jack wanted to add HB and Kane to that list but after they had praised them, he felt awkward doing it. Jack continued for his brother, "There are other teams in the middle. They cheat, but not all the time. Alan and Greg, Keith and Rich, Mark and Dillon."

"I would say Damon and Marcus, plus the teams you mentioned are fair. Keegan and Ross weren't bad when we faced them. And most of the three man teams are pretty good guys too."

Carter and Rick were not surprised. Carter said, "Thanks. That's the same as HB and Kane gave us. But you guys didn't mention the champs? What're they like?"

Jessie took the opportunity to trash Corwin and Drew. Carter and Rick just listened as he badmouthed the champs as sleazebags.

Rick said, "HB and Kane don't like the champs either. It's nice to know the landscape. So we will see you two around. It'll be nice to have a couple of fair matches on the horizon."

THE END
