Mindsweeper Monday: TCCW 44

TCCW are wrestling stories from two different Yahoo! groups from the early 2000's. These entries were part of a much larger universe led by other writers. There are references to characters, events and matches that will not be posted here. Titles change hands, friendships and alliances form and dissolve, all without you ever seeing it. Imagine you are watching an Indy fed sporadically.

Note: You can find ALL (?) the stories by all authors in order in their original versions HERE - thanks for the link, Mangler!

Texas College Championship Wrestling 44

JP (LW) versus Alonso (LW)

"OOMPH!" came the grunt as he pressed the barbell into the air. The bar weighed more than he did, but he was finishing his tenth rep.

Justin Paul strained against the weight as he pushed it upwards for his eleventh rep then gutted out the twelfth. It was his fourth and final set. He sat up and wiped the sweat from his brow. His shirt was soaked and so was his small towel. JP took a long swig from his water bottle. JP had done a huge chest and arms workout; he was in pain, but he loved the feeling.

JP was 23 years old and a long-time competitor in TCCW. At 5'11" and 144 pounds, he was smaller than most of the guys his age in TCCW, but he was deceptively strong. Unlike many of his friends, JP did a lot of reps at lower weight levels when he was in the gym and his lean muscles showed it. JP looked his body over and was impressed by his pump.

JP had joined TCCW early on and had seen his fair share of ring action during his college years. He loved the TCCW gym, but really liked the camaraderie of the federation. The only problem was that Justin Paul was now a senior in college. His friends tortured the freshman and even the sophomores, especially during rush week and on any varsity team. It made for awkward situations now that he was seeing the same guys in the gym.

JP sighed. He was tired of wrestling the younger rookies that dominated his weight class. He wished some older, more experienced lightweights would join the league.

JP surveyed the gym and caught sight of a dude he knew from the dorm. He watched the young man work out a bit. Alonso was about his size, a little shorter, a little thicker. But the guy had no idea what he was doing in the gym. JP had to smirk as Alonso whipped the weights around inefficiently and out-of-control.

JP walked up to Alonso and said, "Hey guy, I can show you how to do that exercise right."

Alonso looked up from the bench with a cocky grin. "I'm doing fine. Get lost." To emphasize his point Alonso flexed his cut arms and showed off his lean muscles. He lifted his shirt and revealed a forming six-pack.

JP nodded. There was no doubt about it; the guy was gifted with good genetics. But he wasn't anywhere near his potential. JP decided not to press the issue, he just wanted to be friendly to another wrestler that he knew from campus and who was not in a big faction.

Still, Alonso was mad. He saw things from a different perspective. He saw JP's friends push him and his friends around during the year and now JP was trying to do it at the gym. Alonso balled his fists and said, "You're pretty scrawny to be giving me lessons. Tell you what; let's test those muscles. Yours against mine. In the ring this Saturday."

JP said, "Sure, that sounds great. I really was just trying to be nice." JP extended his hand to shake on the match.

Alonso was pumped. He shook JP's hand and said, "Whatever. I'm going to teach you not to get into my business!" Alonso went back to doing his workout, continuing to flail around weights with no control.

JP shook his head and arranged the match.

"INTRODUCING FIRST, WEARING THE BLACK TRUNKS, WEIGHING IN AT 144 LBS, HERE IS JP!

The 23-year old JP marched to the ring deliberately. He was well known to the crowd and well-liked. He entered the ring and waved to his friends in the crowd. JP was friendly with many of the wrestlers in the federation.

JP was tightly muscled with a rock solid body and a rippled midsection. The eight-pack was clearly visible as he stretched out in the ring. His arms were long and chiseled. He stood back up. Because of his lean body, he looked taller than 5'11", but less imposing than most men in the league.

JP waited patiently as the announcer called for his opponent.

"AND HIS OPPONENT, WEIGHING IN AT 145 LBS, WEARING THE BLUE TRUNKS, HERE IS ALONSO!"

Alonso came running out of the back. He wore green shorts and short blue amateur wrestling boots. He had blue kneepads, as well. He pulled off the baggy green shorts that he wore over his blue wrestling trunks and tossed them aside. Alonso had a poor record in TCCW, but he aimed to change that. He felt his workouts were really helping him. The beach bum was deeply tanned which emphasized his newly cut muscles.

Usually winless wrestlers got very little reaction or, worse, they received taunts from the crowd. But Alonso got a lot of applause from the crowd as the girls in attendance cheered the young blond. He smiled at them. He was one of the most popular freshmen on campus.

The ref drew the two wrestlers together and made them shake hands. JP said, "Alonso, sorry if we got off to a bad start."

Alonso said, "That's okay, let's just have a good match."

JP smiled, "Cool."

The bell sounded and the wrestlers got ready for action.

Justin Paul circled Alonso warily. He knew very little about his opponent, but then he figured that went both ways. JP knew his lean muscles belied his strength and he could usually count on surprising his opponent right away.

JP moved in for a lockup and Alonso met him. The lightweights pushed back and forth, each trying to drive the other into the corner and demonstrate their superiority.

Alonso grunted as he pushed with his entire body, trying to take control right away. JP held back, using the opportunity to gauge his foe's power. When Alonso relaxed between thrusts, JP made his move.

Justin Paul used all his strength to force Alonso back into the corner. Alonso was caught at the exact wrong time and stumbled back, slammed hard into the turnbuckle by the older wrestler.

JP broke fairly and moved away, letting Alonso gather himself. Alonso just nodded, surprised both at JP's strength and the clean break.

Alonso steeled his will. Unlike his earlier losses, he had really trained for this one. It was time to get serious.

The match was starting slowly, as the wary wrestlers tested each other. On the second lock-up, Alonso lowered his body and used leverage to disorient the taller JP. Alonso quickly gained the advantage quickly and forced JP into the corner.

Alonso matched JP's clean break and backed off. JP shook out his shoulders. It was his turn to be surprised by Alonso's strength. The 18-year old was definitely a match for him.

As JP emerged from the corner, Alonso made a sudden charge! He lowered his shoulder and drove it into JP's wide-open stomach. The force of the 145-pound wrestler lifted JP off his feet and Alonso drove him hard into the mat!

JP let out a loud grunt as he was speared to the mat. He instinctively reached for his sore abs while Alonso moved his hands to JP's side. Alonso rolled JP onto his stomach and straddled his back. Alonso reached forward and locked his hands under JP's chin!

JP's face contorted from the pain as Alonso stretched him out, pulling on his chin and wrenching his neck and back. JP kicked the canvas in frustration as Alonso cranked on the pressure.

JP locked his hands over Alonso's and started to pry the grip from his chin. The ref asked JP if he wanted to quit as he checked that the grip was not a choke.

JP grunted out a "no" and Alonso pulled back even harder. After a minute, Alonso realized that it was way too early for any kind of submission. JP was close to breaking the hold anyway, so Alonso released his grip suddenly.

JP's head fell forward limply and Alonso stood up quickly. As JP started to rise, Alonso dropped down, driving his body into the small of JP's back! JP crashed back to the mat hard, unable to withstand the weight.

Alonso stood again and dropped again, garnering another loud groan from JP. The older stud was moaning under him, giving Alonso confidence. Alonso slapped the back of JP's head arrogantly. The crowd hissed this behavior but Alonso didn't care. He stood up and spread his arms, as if to ask what their problem was.

Alonso looked back. JP was climbing to his hands and knees again. The blond beach bum moved to the ropes. He climbed to the top turnbuckle and waited for JP to rise. Alonso wobbled on the top, ready to pounce.

Justin Paul got to his feet and turned to face his younger foe. What he faced was a cross body block off the top rope!

The crowd cheered. They loved highflying moves, especially when they were done correctly. The men of TCCW practiced their big moves, but seemed to miss as many as they hit when it came time for matches. Flying around the ring was not as easy as it looked to be.

Alonso flattened JP onto the mat, slamming his back hard onto the canvas! The air gushed out of JP as Alonso pressed his advantage. Alonso stayed on top of JP as the ref counted, "one, two," and slapped his hand down.

At the last possible second JP kicked out, barely lifting a shoulder. Alonso slapped the mat for three, but that didn't count. Alonso rose to his feet and grabbed JP's right wrist. He pulled the taller, older stud off the canvas and dipped down to pick him up.

JP flopped forward, falling across Alonso's shoulders, his head and arms slumped over the blond's strong back. Alonso stood up and flipped JP over in a fireman's carry, planting JP down hard without releasing his right wrist.

JP bounced once then lay on the mat unmoving. He grunted again, but otherwise did not react. Alonso twisted his right arm then dropped his leg across it, causing JP to shake in pain.

Alonso repeated the move, making sure to soften up the lean appendage well. After five leg drops, Alonso let the arm fall like a wet noodle. JP pulled his aching arm in to his body as Alonso stomped him hard.

Alonso pulled JP up to his feet and wrapped his arm around JP's neck. The black haired lightweight sagged in the grip as Alonso wrapped his free hand in JP's black trunks. With a firm grip and all his young power, Alonso snapped JP over in a big suplex!

JP arched up on impact, trying to protect his back, but it was no use. Alonso rolled up again, driving two boots into JP's ripped stomach. Alonso raised his arms to the crowd and pointed to the corner.

The crowd cheered. They wanted to see another big move from the blond dominator.

Alonso was on top of the ropes in seconds, facing out at the crowd. He bounced twice, then launched himself back! Alonso flipped his feet over and splashed down hard!

SPLAT!

Unfortunately for Alonso, his aim was off and he crashed down, with only his feet connecting as they landed on JP's thighs. Alonso crashed down hard, his torso and wrists taking the majority of the impact!

The ref started a ten count as both lightweights writhed on the mat in pain.

The ref was counting, the wrestlers were struggling and no one knew what was going to happen next. All they knew was JP was battered and Alonso was hurt from his failed moonsault.

JP dug deep. He wasn't sure what had happened but he knew he had to act NOW! The oldest lightweight in TCCW reached inside himself and pulled himself to his feet as his count reached seven. Alonso was up to his hands and knees.

JP measured him up and moved forward, lifting his boot like a football punter, only it was no pigskin he was kicking, but Alonso's aching abs.

Alonso toppled over, rolling to the corner. JP followed and stomped two more boots into Alonso's abs. He forced the blond wrestler to his feet and pounded two left hands into Alonso's abs followed by a big knee lift!

Alonso fell forward, positioned perfectly for a DDT! JP clutched his opponent around the neck and pulled down, driving the younger man's head into the mat hard!

JP tried for the cover, but Alonso kicked out at one. JP muttered, "Hard head. That's no surprise."

JP rolled to his feet and shook out his right arm, which was still sore from the earlier abuse. Alonso was really dazed. The blond tried to sit up, but fell back. JP moved into the ropes and came off them fast. He used their momentum to add force to his move - a splash!

JP ran forward and leapt straight up, crashing onto Alonso hard! The 144-pounds of lean muscle was a lot of weight on Alonso's still-sore abs! JP went for another cover and got two this time, but no more.

JP pulled Alonso up and threw him into the corner. He grabbed Alonso's wrist and pulled him from the corner, whipping him across the ring. As Alonso ran across the ring, he grabbed JP's right arm and did not let go!

The force of the whip and Alonso's iron grip dragged JP forward and the studs toppled down in a heap. JP's eyes watered from the pain in his right arm. He clutched his shoulder with his left hand as Alonso stood up. Alonso drove his boot into JP's left shoulder, attacking the lean but powerful wrestler in his good arm. JP tried to roll away, but Alonso was relentless.

Alonso grabbed JP's left wrist and forced him to his feet. He bent JP's arm back in a hammerlock and lifted it up JP's back. JP moaned as his left arm was wrenched. Before he could react, Alonso drove forward, slamming JP into the corner left shoulder first!

When JP came out, he was grimacing terribly. Alonso stood behind him and lifted his arms over his head, bringing them down quickly in a move that everyone knew meant, "It's over!"

JP was the only one who had not seen the motion, but he was about to find out about it!

The crowd rose up with thunderous cheering as the end neared.

Alonso whipped JP into the ropes. As JP came off, Alonso wrapped his left arm around his throat then moved behind to close his grip.

"SLEEPER!" someone shouted and they were right. Alonso had positioned his prey perfectly and clamped on one of the toughest holds in pro wrestling. Even experienced wrestlers in TCCW fell victim to a properly applied sleeper. With Alonso's tight arms wrapped around him, JP had little, if any, hope of escape.

Alonso locked his arms tightly. JP struggled, but he was too weak to fight back. The destruction of his muscles had been complete and his struggles were futile.

JP's long arms looked like tentacles as they flailed, but it was no use. He dropped to his knees, giving Alonso even more leverage over him. Alonso pressed harder on the hold.

Alonso moved to his knees as JP sagged further and further down. The ref checked JP's right arm. He lifted it up and watched it fall to the mat like a wet rag. He lifted it again. No response. The ref lifted JP's arm for the third time - the audience watched in anticipation, half of them wanting it to fall, the other half wanting some kind of miraculous WWE-style comeback from the oldest lightweight in TCCW.

But this was not the WWE. This was a real sleeper and JP's arm fell down as easily as it had the first couple of times.

The match was over. Alonso's arms were raised in victory and he saluted the crowd. After savoring his first TCCW victory, Alonso decided he wanted to really enjoy it. Alonso approached the sleeping JP. He arrogantly clutched JP's hair and lifted his head. He slapped JP across the face hard. JP woke out of his sleep with a huge headache from the successful sleeper hold.

As JP struggled to his hands and knees, Alonso leaned down and said, "Not so tough are you? I knew I'd kick your ass. Loser." JP ignored the taunts. The throbbing in his head was distracting him completely. He felt Alonso's fingers slip through his hair. With incredible quickness Alonso tightened his grip and wrenched JP's head back. He whispered, "Just wait until we get back to the dorm, Mr. Senior, everyone's gonna hear about this!"

Alonso released his grip, JP fell back to the mat on his back exhausted. Alonso again raised his arms in victory as he rested his right boot on JP's battered chest. Alonso was happy to get his first win, especially over an older wrestler. He had lost before because he hadn't taken TCCW seriously, but now he saw what he could do if he prepared.

It would be a new Alonso in TCCW from now on.

In the ring, JP was on his feet. He couldn't believe he had been beaten by a young punk like Alonso. Not only had he been beaten, but he had been embarrassed and ridiculed. He now had to face the situation on campus. Every time he saw Alonso or one of his friends, he knew he would hear about this humiliating loss. He shook out his head and slid out of the ring, determined to be more prepared and less friendly the next time he wrestled.

THE END
