Review: Cash Kellogg vs. Lobo Gris (MBW)

Full disclosure: This video was provided to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

Man, I am really falling down on the job watching and reviewing videos. It's been a while, for sure. I've been trying to finish the story I wanted for March 1st but am now hoping will be April 1st. I keep re-writing and tweaking the same parts - I've had the beginning, stakes and ending done since early February but can't seem to write the actual wrestling.

Anyway, I have a few lined up and hopefully I can actually watch them. I did get a chance to watch this one and it's definitely review-worthy. SPOILERS BELOW! Can't talk about this without spoiling it, unfortunately.

C'mon, man, the guy doesn't
even have his shorts off, yet.

Cash Kellogg is over from Thunders where I think I only watched him a couple of times. I view MBW's roster listing as a leaderboard (it's in no discernible order so I need to make sense of it somehow). Cash is at number eight, so I assume he's either highly-paid, quite popular or both. I can see why. Damn, he's a fine looking man. Handsome, hairy, chiseled and a good sport, going with the flow of this match. He's one of those guys I could see as a kick-ass dominator but loved ... well, I'll save this for later.

Lobo Gris meanwhile feels like he has just burst onto the scene in a big way. You know how when you buy a certain type of car, you end up noticing it on the road more? Well, I only recently saw Lobo via a retweet, thought he was hot and liked a post. Since then, I've seen him pop up repeatedly on Twitter and wrestling sites. Weird how these things work but I'm definitely a new fan of his. Cocky, sexy and skilled - a trifecta of goodness for a bad boy.

Pretty cocky for a little guy.

Cash makes a great bash and smash stud.

But, he also makes a great muscly doormat.
Decisions, decisions.

I'll admit that I was surprised by how this match played out. Cash vs. Lobo is differently paced than most MBW matches. It's slower but in a good way, thanks to the scenario being played out. This is about the arrogant muscleman facing a wolf in jobber's clothing. Cash gets taken down nearly immediately, is begging "please no" in two minutes, and knocked out in three. What?

Yes, this is a complete squash for the first half and is one-sided overall, probably 80-20 in Lobo's favor. Cash might have the brawn but Lobo's got the brains. He manipulates the hairy hunk perfectly. The way his domination unfolds is completely believable to me. Cash makes a comeback and I didn't know who'd win in the end, but I definitely wanted to see beautiful Cash suffer. Sorry, dude. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Muscles can't help you now, stud.

Fuck, I love this guy.
Even more now that he's showing some fight!

Lobo loves to torture the muscle boys.

Action-wise, both guys get knocked out (Cash more than Lobo), leaving the door open for stripping, taunting, flexing and general humiliation of the sleeping victim. Low blows give Lobo openings but his skills allow him to make the most of them. Cash gets bent and squeezed into submission repeatedly, his muscle proving to be no help. Lobo expresses such glee at punishing Cash. I just love that he seems to love wrestling so much. It makes him a lovable heel.

Like, damn ... how can I cheer for Cash
to win when he looks like this?

Gives Lobo a taste of his own medicine.

Dude, you're being crushed.
(Thanks, guys.)

In the end, this video worked really hard for me. I love the story, the guys, the dynamics and the way it plays out. It's methodical and focused. Cash is so gorgeous as an amazing muscleman victim. He's got the right amount of fight combined with his willingness to beg. Lobo is a fun heel. He seems to derive great pleasure from torturing sexy hunks, which is good because I derive great pleasure in watching him do it!

So, that's my take. What's yours?

Alex

  1. Cash isn't one of the wrestlers I usually follow, and i'm used to seeing him in the heel role, so this is a nice surprise. I'll have to keep it in mind. Knock outs and the accompanying humiliation are some of my favourite wrestling scenarios.

Also, excited for the new story! But of course take whatever time you need, I know what it's like to get stuck in cycles of redoing and tweaking work all the time haha

    1. Yeah, Cash isn't on my radar, either. But as soon as he whimpers "please" I was pretty much hooked. I probably wouldn't have purchased this, so I'm glad MBW sent it to me.

It's crazy on the story. And I don't think I'm making it better. Just tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Meanwhile, I have a fall-and-a-half of wrestling to write. Part of it might be that the story is actually about a character who's not wrestling, rather than the wrestlers.

  2. I'm a fan of Lobo. HIs last match at UCW was with Zack Reno the current champ. It was an awesome fight. Both trained wrestlers. I'm into comparison, size difference, etc. Lobo has about 2 inches height and 20 lbs weight on Reno. Lobo was innocent and quiet while Reno was parading around the ring. Lobo got in some good moves especially when he had Reno in a rear hold and swung him like a pendulum. Way cool. Hope to see more of him.

    1. Oh, cool. Zach is always fun. I'm liking Lobo, too. I expect that he's filmed more matches, so I look forward to checking them out.
