Review: Chris Cannon vs. JT Atlas (Muscleboy Wrestling)

I have a ton of not-yet-watched Muscleboy Wrestling videos, but I still bought Chris Cannon vs. JT Atlas on the same day their sixth catalogue came out then watched it right away. Was that a good decision?

Old school heel Chris Cannon is back on the mats.

Chris Cannon is hot, but it's his swagger that wins me over every time. He's a modern take on an old school heel. This big hunk has supreme confidence in himself and no respect for his opponents. His opinion of JT Atlas is no exception. The smaller, ripped stud looks good in a double pair of white trunks, but is treated with total disdain by an anxious-to-destroy Cannon.

Chris enjoys a trophy.
(Note: JT is wearing double trunks. No nudity here)

Big Chris has the power and moves to wreck JT.

JT's a quick learner, mimicking Chris' moves.

There's almost four minutes of flexing followed by 32 minutes of wrestling. There's a ton of posturing, neither man impressed with the other. JT isn't the good guy. He's a smaller cocky heel-type. So the question is, can he overcome Cannon's size advantage? Not at first, that's for sure. The bigger stud unleashes a brutal array of power moves and submission holds.

I really like Atlas' suffering. He has this high-pitched pained scream that really sells every move and hold. It makes an awesome soundtrack while Cannon squashes him. You'll see body work, slams, piledrivers, racks, camels and more punishing action.

Cannon dominates for a long stretch and just as you think it's a totally one-sided battle, the classic heel makes a classic mistake. He arrogantly lets the smaller stud recover, completely underestimating JT. The challenger seizes the opening then runs through a shorter set of the same moves Cannon used on him.

This duplication isn't mentioned as a deliberate thing, but I like to think it's payback, using a guy's own moves on him. He even manages to get the big man up into a rack. It's cool to see Cannon in trouble, even if it's the same trouble. If you project my added intention onto it, it's even hotter.

The rack is a Chris Cannon specialty.

JT: You didn't know I could do this!

Cannon dominates JT for the first 18 minutes of action.

Chris gets a taste of his own medicine.

Cannon: 1 Chris Cannon. 2 Chris Cannons.
3 Chris Cannons. 4 Chris Cannons. 5 Chris Cannons.

The big heel suffers matching humiliation.

In the end, I love Chris Cannon's attitude and moves. He's loud, arrogant and brutal, just like a classic 80's heel should be. JT Atlas suffers really well and I did enjoy his time on top. A lot of the action does repeat 2-3 times, but it works to see Cannon get a taste of his own medicine.

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex
