Review: Alex Costa vs. Derek Bolt (Muscleboy Wrestling)

Full disclosure: This match was sent to me by Muscleboy Wrestling.

I've said this before, but one of the biggest challenges when I'm writing my stories is when I have two superstar characters facing off. It's why obvious battles like Cody vs. Beau or Ryan vs. Josh have been on my list every year and always get put off. It adds a lot of pressure because of the expectations and it feels like it has to be 'epic' in some way.

Honestly, I wasn't really clamoring for Alex Costa vs. Derek Bolt, but it's definitely a battle of superstars. And so, I dropped everything the same night this showed up in my inbox.

There's a lot of MAN in that ring.

One of the most interesting parts of this match is the opening (and closing) which features the inclusion of valets. Sexy jobber Quin Quire has lost to both these guys, but he works for Derek Bolt here. And Alex Costa is backed up by hot rookie stud Luca Ferrari. With these four hunks all in one ring, it's almost too much to take. Now, don't get too excited. The valets disappear during the wrestling oral/jerking off part. They're not at ringside the whole time nor do they interfere in any way.

At the three-minute mark, things shift to one-on-one and we're left with the two hottest big heels at MBW (along with Nick Flex) alone in the ring. Of course they're stunning. Both guys are lusciously hairy and beautifully muscled, but they're also distinct. Derek is beefier, more seductive and flirtier. Alex more sculpted, raw and primal.

This is one of the hottest pairings possible.

Alex sure isn't facing a lightweight this time.

Derek finally faces a challenge.

There's a lot of electricity in the air right from the start. Everyone is posturing and preening, the valets lovingly admiring their flexing hunks. It becomes a rivalry as they each declare that their hunk is hotter and the better wrestler. The valets start shoving, which forces the big men to separate them. Alex pushes Quin. Derek takes offense. And we're on.

It took me three viewings to get through this one, mainly because of the scenario, the guys and the incredible tension between them. The wrestling itself is just okay as both of these guys have specific and limited skills, especially for Alex against a relative heavyweight. After a long stretch of one-sided beating, it's back-and-forth and they're portrayed as rough and tumble equals. Alex is the first guy who's been a match for Derek's physical power and attitude, so it's great to see it play out this way.

The energy is high right from the start.

The ring plays a minor role.

Not many guys at MBW can slam Alex.

Action-wise, most of the time is spent on the guys beating on each other. The wrestling is limited, with only a few holds and moves - a body slam, a backbreaker, a couple of camels and a crab are what I mostly recall. Most of those come at the end when the guys are sweaty and exhausted. By that point, Alex definitely struggles to move big Derek, but they power through it all. One guy submits and the sex (kissing/sucking/jerking) round begins.

The ring is really only relevant a couple of times, otherwise this same match could've happened in the same way in the mat room. Although maybe not with these big studs. Maybe they wouldn't have fit. After both guys have unleashed their loads, the valets re-emerge and congratulate their studs. The winner's valet raises his limp arm while the loser's valet snarks that his man is still hotter.

Yes, Alex, all that beef could be yours.

Derek loves dominating sexy Alex.
And who wouldn't?

Everything ends up happy as the
valets congratulate their guys.

In the end, I was satisfied by this match. Three times. Is it perfect or a classic? Nope, for all the reasons mentioned. However, the sexiness of the studs, the intensity of their confrontation, the valets, and the idea of these two beasts draining each other of their power until one finally and exhaustedly submits is all just plain hot.

What are other bloggers saying?

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex

  1. I completely agree with everything you wrote, Alex. Sometimes the anticipation and hype is almost intimidating. When I saw that MBW's two most muscular stars where finally facing each other, I was hesitant to buy the match because I figured there was no way it could live up to my lofty expectations. (I was even hesitant to read your review of it, which was ridiculous of me because your thoughts and comments were spot-on as usual!)

Like you, I was satisfied with the match but not especially blown away by it. And also like you, I feel that a clash between two of the most popular stars of any genre must be truly epic. It's why my first Brody vs. Ram fan fiction story ended up being 145 pages long and why my second Brody vs. Ram story (which will hopefully be finished this weekend) is approaching half that length. Titanic contests of that nature need to be handled with a great deal of care, and it's a heck of a lot of work!
