Eye of the Cyclone: Scorpion in "Mind Over Matter"

It's been a while since I posted about Eye of the Cyclone. Now felt like a good time to post again as we've recently reached big conclusions to a couple of hot ongoing stories that have elements that I love, love, love. Last month, after 14 chapters, "Lab Rat" ended with a huge climax as the heroes faced certain doom. And last week, "Mind Over Matter" concluded its six-chapter run.

I decided to focus on "Mind Over Matter" because it features the amazing Scorpion and it combined several personal favorite superhero story elements.

It's Scorpion (matter) vs. Anarchy (mind)!

Scorpion debuted almost four years ago and is my current favorite recurring character. The hero is classically attired in a purple spandex bodysuit with nothing underneath, matching domino mask and coordinating black boots, gloves and belt. At least, that's what he starts out wearing. The bald stud is hot, hung and heroic, so villains have eagerly taken his costume and control.

There are currently three Scorpion stories and four videos up. They're all sexy fun. Like so many of his type, he's powerful but over-confident, which leads to him making mistakes. While he can mow down henchmen and foil plots, Scorpion forgets that the main villains never stop fighting and always have one more trick up their sleeve. And that's one of my favorite things and has been ever since Superman opened that lead box and got pushed into a swimming pool by Lex Luthor.

In "Mind Over Matter", Scorpion hunts down Anarchy to stop him from activating his new device, which will allow him to track down the locations of superheroes when they're in their secret identities, all by using their DNA left at previous crime scenes. Nefarious and dangerous. The stakes are high. A battle ensues with twists and turns that I have to spoil but with as few details as possible.

It's all in the usual format with high-definition images and text. In his secret identity, Cyclone is an amazing photographer so the images are terrific and perfectly posed, framed and lit. He has also made two site improvements. One, it's now easier to go from chapter to chapter. And the second is video. There's a bonus element here with a 40-second video in the final chapter. It's part of a trend with videos up weekly or biweekly (this video is the 11th since the August 7th update). They're short and sexy, usually with the hero captured and suffering. Fun.

Overconfidence!

You get hypnosis, domination, full nudity, enslavement and the threat of an auction: Anarchy laughs, "Perfect, you're now ready for display and to be pimped out to the highest villain bidder on the web". What? That's diabolical! There's also a dehumanizing name change and a wonderful gear swap into a loincloth and collar. I do love loincloths. Hm. Maybe I need in on this auction. To save the hero, of course.

In the end, it's stories like this and studs like Scorpion that keep the site fun for me. Cyclone seems to intuitively know what I like and brings more than enough of it to keep me happy. "Mind Over Matter" is a wonderful story that I've revisited all week since it concluded.
