Review: Ty Alexander vs. Kenny Star (BGEast)

In the past, I've done special posts on or around July 4th, including red-white-and-blue trunks, Wade Cutler and "fireworks". Last year, I was on vacation in the two weeks prior so I missed it, but I did share vacation pics from Alaska. This year, I wasn't sure what to do, so I chose a regular review. There is a little bit of fortuitous wardrobing as Ty Alexander comes to the mats wearing appropriately themed trunks and shoes.

Ty makes this video somewhat themed for the day.

Ty Alexander vs. Kenny Star is a Jobberpaloozer video. Makes sense to me, considering both have spent most of their BGEast careers as jobbers. However, they've been very different jobbers. Ty has been a heel-jobber, coming to matches with an arrogant persona and a willingness to bend the rules, even if it doesn't get him very far. Kenny Star, meanwhile, is a chill and smiley babyface-jobber, with a rocking ripped body that begs to be bashed.

Like a figure out of a renaissance painting.

It's easy to see why both guys were cast in the jobber role. They're both very good at it. However, they're also equipped to be in control. Ty has shown both the skills and attitude to dominate, frequently getting on top before being upended. And pretty Kenny's time at UCW was virtually all back-and-forth matches with him enjoying considerable time punishing his opponent.

The video begins with Kenny stretching, showing off just by loosening up his chiseled muscles. Normally, I fast forward through this but he's just so pretty. Ty comes in with a chip on his shoulder, saying Kenny will pay for clocking him in practice. That doesn't really go anywhere, but these guys find their own tension. Ty clearly loves dominating the studly BGE rookie. The ripped hunk does some trash talking of his own, questioning how Ty can hope to beat his gorgeous muscles.

Suffering succotash, that's gorgeous.

It wouldn't be a Kenny match if his
amazing abs weren't a main target.

Heel-jobbers always get too cocky.

Action-wise, it's mostly mat work. There are a lot of scissors, classic holds, multiple submissions and a knockout finish that leaves one guy face down, ass out. Trunks get wedged on both guys and bulges get grabbed. Ty dominates most of it, but it is back-and-forth. Kenny looks great stretched out and displayed, so I'm not complaining. I am glad it's not a squash, since Ty's such a good jobber.

Of course, Ty attacks Kenny's abs with fists, forearms and fingers. Kenny's washboard midsection always gets a workout. Ty's arrogance opens the door for reversals and I wonder if the guy will ever learn. They both get falls and moments to pose and flex over the other, a rarity in their careers. It's not easy to go for 30 minutes but these guys keep the pace and intensity high as they fight for that rare win.

Ty loves to pull Kenny's hair.
I approve!

Beautiful over-the-knee backbreaker.

Basking in the glow of rare domination.

In the end, I enjoyed seeing these two favorites hit the mat. It's a good match with a lot of sexy holds. Ty's the better wrestler, with a wider variety of holds but Kenny does well, too. And the BGE newcomer has a body just meant to be bent and tortured, so they made the right call having Ty control more of the action.

What are other bloggers saying?

So, that's my take. What's yours?
