Review: Vinny vs. Kasee/Cap vs. Gunnar (Thunders Arena)

I don’t think I’ve ever done five posts in a row that are all reviews from the same company before. But these Thunders Arena matches are the main videos I’ve watched recently, so what can I do?

I have one video left to talk about from rookies Kasee and Gunnar. I decided to combine them. Why? I finally realized that in the matches I bought, these guys faced the same wrestlers in the same locations (Cason and Vinny in the ring, Cap in the garage). I might’ve structured the reviews differently, but hindsight’s twenty-twenty. Oh well. Either way, there's still some kind of symmetry between the two newbies even if they're very different.

Gunnar vs. Cap

Gunnar has a one-track mind in this one.

The big rookie comes storming into this video 30 seconds in then relentlessly crushes Cap like a beefy Terminator in squarecuts. Silent but deadly, Cap is shocked and helpless save for one short hope spot. At just over 16 minutes, this is a short video but it's almost all wrestling which is good. plus, this kind of squash can get monotonous so this is probably the perfect length.

Gunnar wants to crush Cap.

Cap's found his purpose at Thunders.

Love those facial expressions.

The confused stud doesn't understand why he's getting crushed, claiming innocence. The fact that he started the video bragging about how he was about to kick someone's ass is lost on him. The only real issue is Cap's repeated questions, “who are you” and “why are you doing this” banter gets painful at times, but it’s tough when your opponent just won’t speak.

So shiny.

Gunnar looks even bigger
as the match goes on.

In the end, it's a pretty standard Thunders beatdown focusing on power moves and submission holds. After seeing chatty Gunnar, I would've liked to see how he could've mocked Cap's helplessness but for what it is, it's a good version of it. The big man is a sexy sweaty beast and Cap's facial expressions are excellent.

Kasee vs. Vinny

It's big vs. small.

Unlike Gunnar, who was different in his three matches, Kasee is pretty consistent. He’s a cocky muscle boy who’s not afraid to challenge anyone. Going against your big buddy who’s taking it easy on you is one thing. Going against a beast like Vinny is another. Still, the young buck is willing to jump in and try his best.

The big man breaks Kasee down.

And he lifts him up.

Just like Cason, Vinny doesn’t take the 102-lbs weakling (his take, not mine) seriously. The big behemoth is not intimidated by Easter egg biceps. Flat, ripped abs don’t impress him. Nor do the spaghetti legs wrapped around his head. And just like against Cason, this big man arrogance gives Kasee his openings to make this not a 100% squash. Don’t get me wrong. Vinny is the dominant one. He frequently no-sells the smaller stud’s offense and never lets himself admit that he might be in trouble.

Vinny goes along, to a point,
but he's no buddy doing the small stud a favor.

Kasee gets his chances,
using his legs to try to control Vinny.

Kasee looks damn good stretched out.

In the end, this is a good showing for both guys. The action is good. The tone is mostly light. At least as light as it can get with Vinny. If you’re a fan of either man, you’ll probably like this.

So that's my take. What's yours?

Alex
